Thoughts? Hopes? Dreams? Discussion?

I'm hoping like crazy that NZ will finally win another cup, we've gone into every cup as favourites and lost, but this time we're going in on pretty even footing with South Africa, Aussie and maybe France, so maybe we'll come out on top this time :P

What I'm really looking forward to though are some of the smaller teams, like Japan, Canada, USA, Russia all usually put on great shows and are much more interesting to watch.

And to the US forumers out there who probably haven't watched much rugby before, NBC will be broadcasting all of the US's games live, including vs Ireland on Sunday (your time), and against Russia, which should be a really great watch.

EDIT: I'll try to keep the OP updated with scores and results, but don't count on it.

This means nothing to me. But the other night I had a cramp in my shin, which I think qualifies me as vaguely sporty.

Haha, sports mean pretty much nothing to me either, but I watch things like World Cups or the Olympics religously when they're on, because they're more condensed and don't require you to follow them for months at a time.

Ha! I get something like this too. I go to the pub to watch big football games and we can all shout and get along. As soon as anyone mentions I was actually born in Germany I [censored] off sharpish.

It seems like there are two things that are all over the media at the moment: the world cup, and people complaining about how the only thing in the media is the world cup. :P

Definitely going to be watching the All Blacks game tonight, and will be going to the Argentina vs Georgia game on the 28th. I'm quite happy that it's finally here! :D

If I'm up at 4am I might watch. I only played rugby for a year, and we svckED. And it was still the funnest sport I have played. I'll have to be rooting for Canada. Doing well can only help promote the sport here.

I worked at a hotel that the Canadian rugby team stayed at a few years ago; they're the messiest people I've ever seen, there was chewing tobacco everywhere, jockstraps, condems, bottles, the lot. Can't complain though, they were the only team staying there that tipped us, they gave all their left over NZ currency to the housekeeping department and we got a nice bonus on our paychecks :D

Poor Tonga. 29-3 at half time, so I had to stop watching. It was like a train crash in slow motion.

Also, Australia is going to win this year, mark my words. New Zealand's team is practically ancient in comparison, and I think we have a really skilled team at the moment. NZ has some great players, but they're all too old. Also there is the whole choking thing, but I won't go into that :whistling:

I don't really care for rugby, or even football but I'd still support my country.

They scored a try in the second half, I even started rooting for them a little bit because they really rallied and put on some good defense, and some really aggressive play up front.

At least the opening ceremony was awesome. Shame the fireworks were a little plain though.

I'm kinda glad that Tonga scored a try, because the fans' spirit and enthusiasm was just so fantastic :D The second half wasn't great, but I'm glad the All Blacks won, partially because the media would have a frenzy if they lost. I'm going to Argentina vs. Georgia on the 28th, which should be awesome.

Apart from the All Blacks winning obviously, one of my biggest hopes for the World Cup is that the media and commentators don't exaggerate Sonny Bill Williams' ability like they always do. He is not as good as everyone makes out :verymad:

Some of the hits that the Tongan's put on the All Blacks will make sure that the Kiwi's know they were in a game even if they did win at basically a canter

Ok sorta off topic. but im suprised Japan has a rugby team. I didnt expect rugby that far away.

I dont really watch this (unless I can find it live on the internet) I hate being with people who shout at the tv as though it somehow helps...

Also I dont know how otherswill do, but NZ will win it, unless they all get their legs broke or something.

Which side . . . DO I TAKE? I mean, yeah, I like the All Blacks. They're really good and I like them, but the Wallabies are part of my own country and it kinda hurts to see them lose (which they will NOT).
