Saadia or Kematu

Post » Mon May 28, 2012 4:02 pm

wanted to do a poll to see who sided with Kematu and who with Saadia?

You can read some background http://www.rarityguide.com/articles/articles/1002/1/Skyrim-Walkthrough-In-My-Time-of-Need/Page1.html and http://www.gameshampoo.com/116338/skyrim-is-it-better-to-side-with-kematu-or-saadia, but you should avoid this thread if you havent done "in my time of need" quest

personally I sided with Saadia since she seemed more helpless like this Kematu guy has all these henchies, but Saadia is just a lone woman trying to make a living working hard in a tavern

I sided with Kematu, because I felt that if he was really the leader of a heartless guild of assassins he wouldn't have bothered to stop and talk to some lone traveler who had just murder many of his men. He was in the perfect spot to ambush you from the moment you entered that chamber, but he didn't. That peaked my interest right off the bat, and after hearing his side of the story I decided to support him with the intention of switching back to Saadia should something be revealed in the end that showed where either was in the right or wrong. Nothing like that happened, so I just stuck with my choice. I think they did a very good job with this quest, as you really are never told who was telling the truth - which happens in real life.

I sided with saadia, but only because I wanted the challenge of beating the redguards.

Once I found out Saadia's location, she told me she was a noble in hiding. Waiting tables. Right. Walked to Rorikstead and sold her out, collected my pay.

I sided with Saadia. It was a hard choice to make, and I saved before I talked to Kematu so I could try both sides. I reloaded and sided with Saadia because helping some group of guys kidnap this woman felt awful, she easily could've been innocent, in fact I believe she was.

The way Kematu acted really rubbed me the wrong way as well. He seemed arrogant and mercenary, not like a man apprehending a criminal should sound. Also, the cave they were hiding in was filled with Bandits. What sort of person is just accepted into a Bandit clan's hideout? Not a very good person I'd wager.

To be fair, they were in the back part of the cave, hidden by a waterfall with an exit to the back. It could be that the bandits just didn't know they were there.
I sided with Kematu, I'm not entirely sure why, but he was much more charismatic than I'd expect a random assassin to be, so that helped. He also decided to enlist my help, even when he could have easily had his 5 guards (expert, super dangerous assassins, according to Saadia) murder the hell out of me, since I stumbled right onto the perfect ambush.

I sided with Kematu. If Saadia was fleeing because she spoke out against the Dominion, she would not have had to flee all the way to Skyrim. Several cities in Hammerfell would have gladly protected her from the Thalmor. Kematu's explanation that she betrayed a city to the Dominion makes sense with her having to flee the country. It also coincides with info from books that Hammerfell "left" the Empire to continue the fight against the Dominion.

That's entirely possible I suppose. They wouldn't be able to go in and out without running into them though, and as I recall there was just the one entrance/exit in that dungeon. Might be that they hadn't left at all though.

Charisma really doesn't do it for me in convincing me he's a good person or honest. Plenty of politians are very charismatic speakers and they have a reputation for being the biggest liars in societies. Plus, they say the devil is very charismatic. Milton's Paradise Lost for example.

The bandits in the entrace talk about then so they knew they were there, and kematu also explains that he's a sellsword, so he can act arrogant as he likes, but i still sides with saadia... i don't know it just felt like she was the right one in this.

I know right? They're everywhere! I'm happy somewhat, means their writing has improved, but do wish we had more straight-up morality quests as well. I like to establish the morality of my character through quests as well, and it's hard to do with so many grey choices.

I wanted to side with the guy, because anyone who sides with the Thalmor deserves to die a painful death. But all that loot...

I took her side and killed everyone in the cave.

About a week or so later I noticed 2 of those Redguards standing at the front of the city near the blacksmith shop. They wouldn't talk to me, but the fact they were alive and basically camping her only exit annoyed me. After multiple attempts I was able to kill them both without being spotted. Kinda felt like unfinished business until I did that.

They're still out there in my game. Just sitting there.

My character sided with Saadia. Seeing as how my character is a Stormcloak who hates the Thalmor/Imperials and love anyone who speaks out against them, he sided with Saadia, because that's what she did and was being chased because of it. My character saw it as a chance to help someone loyal to the cause against the Empire/Aldmeri Dominion.

Kematu, of course.

Saadia did betray Hammerfell and is a Thalmar sympathizer.

According to the wiki, there is a way to triple cross both of them.

*You avoid the fight with the redgaruds in the cave. I tried the fight a few times and me and lydia, even backed into the hallway, this fight would take a stack of expensive healing pots to complete. You can loot their chest anyway which had a nice axe upgrade +15 fire damage.

* You turn Sadiia in. Collect your reward from Kematu.

* Attak and kill Kematu. He has 100 gold, two scimitars and some other junk. This is the only place/way I have seen to get scimitars. They are 18/10 which makes them better than normal weapons.

*Sadiia, freed from her bonds will attack you. If you are an imperial, like I am, you use Voice of the Emperor to stun her, talk to her, then get your original reward from her. You got both rewards.

(Heres where it gets funky.)

*If you wait by the stables for voice to wear off, the guards will see you fight and kill her. Then they will fire at you and try to kill you. This is really bad for your reputation in the town (I am assuming.)

*If you leave before Voice wears off, the next time you step in the Bannered Mare, Sadiaa will attack you. I didnt kill her, but Lydia did. The proprietor runs out of the inn to get help. You don't appear to be in trouble with the guards, but she Locks the tavern for the remainder of the day. I went back to the tavern the following day, and she refuses to talk to me. I am not sure if my rep went down in the town, or just with her.

The point is, depending on how you play it, you get different benefits.

The one that seemed most profitable, to take both rewards (1000g), loot both bodies and get 2xscimitar, will either leave you in trouble with the guards or with the Bannered Mare. I'm not sure that stuff is worth not being able to pick up new quests from the tavern. This is a tough decision for someone who is dual wield.

Add in the hole that they were assassins, they wanted her alive. Thats not an assassin.

You dun goofed if you hate thalmor. Her story makes no sense. You just aided a thalmor ally.

I did this quest fairly early, and didn't know much about the Aldmeri Dominion and the Thalmor. Nothing to be honest. So i didn't started to rage when Kematu told me Saadia worked with them. I looked at both endings, but it rubbed me the wrong way that Saadia doesn't get the chance to say a single word in her defense when you sell her out. So i sided with her.
Next time i will probably decide differently. Although...if Saadia was telling the truth, i guess the Thalmor are sly enough to set up some mercenaries, pretending to work against the Thalmor (good success chances in Skyrim). Maybe i am just paranoid. Maybe i trust a pretty face to easily. At any rate, this is probably the most interesting quest in the game.

That's exactly what i did and how i reasoned. Figured if he's full of crap i'd rather ambush him in an open place where i've got room to move.
Was hoping to get more info when i sided with Sadia on my mage thief but i guess you never find out who's telling the truth

Kematu, after much deliberating. Like others, I thought Saadia's story sounded bogus and Kematu seemed to be much more straight with me.
