Sabercat Island!

Post » Wed May 30, 2012 6:20 am

Mebbe its called something else in game, but has anyone traveled northeast of the serpent stone to a small island rampant with Sabercats?
Anyone got any tips? I haven't fully explored the place because every time i get there, i am seriously outnumbered by the beasts that reside there.
Figured level 19, with Dragon Bone and Blades Sword enchanted with 26 fire damage single hand bonus enchanted gauntlets as well as some nice singlehanded perks that i would be able to decimate them, as i can do in most cases... but no dice yet.

you are level 19 and already have 100 smithing and high enchanting? yeah im pretty sure all your combat skills are low as hell, next time 1st level up combat skills and then crafting haha
on the main question though i havent been to that island i'll try finding it later, but again u'll probably want to level up some combat skills before trying it again ;)

that, my friend, is the quintessential example of "breaking the game's balance thru exploits"

1. some, most (i dont know the sepcific) enemies scale up as you level - meaning they level up as you do so the game remains "balanced"

2. your skills get better as you level them up (i.e levelling up smithing to 100) which scales the enemy up with you.

3. sadly, you levelled up a non-combat skill so while the enemies got better, the only thing that you got better was your ability to make armor. so now, you are outmatched..

i know coz i did that my first game and i regretted it XP

Haha, not dragonbone armor. I mean Dragonbane, the sword
indeed, i have been leveling my combat up.
The armor i do have is improved Blades Armor, which has suited me prety well for all that I have faced thus far, save the large amount of Sabercats on said island.

Ask a question about the game and get a lecture on your playstyle. Isn't the forums great?

Not sure if it's the same island you're asking about but Northeast of the Serpents Stone is Japhets Folly, with a Sea Cave filled with some nasties and an interesting corpse.

Edit: Cleared the place out and it's part of the Rise in the East quest.

haha, right?

Looking at the Wiki page for that location, now.
I dont think thats the one, but definately the same area. i dont recall sheer cliffs at the shorline, rather more of a snow beach (on the south and western edges at least) and a bit of an incline as you head northeasterly.

I traveled north east from the Serpent Stone and found a fairly flat island with four snow bears, probably the same place with higher level enemies. Killed them and looked around but don't see anything unique about it.

Edit: I found a nirnroot there :D

Geesh it took me until level 40 something to get dragon armor. Have not been there but I will say that entire area that runs along the north of Skyrim is awesome. There are so many secret areas and it looks really cool. I can't puts number on how many shipwrecks I found in the dark water of the sea of ghosts.

Take a friend and a dog, maybe a conjured familiar too or a summoning staff...let them be cat food while you kick their ass
