Saboteur and Saints Row 2 Stability

Post » Tue Dec 06, 2011 2:34 pm

I've been avoiding these games for awhile, mainly because of poor PC porting. Lately however, I've been kind of in the mood for some open world free roaming type games.

I know the Sabotuer has had some trouble with ATI cards, and I have a radeon 5700 series. 5750 to be exact.

Saints Row 2 looks like it's a pretty shoddy port. I've watched a few reviews and I'm not impressed with the performance.

My question is, are these games worth getting? Or am I just going to run into too many technical issues?

EDIT: As a side note, how is Mafia II?

I've played The Saboteur on an ATI card. I'm pretty sure the only issue is with the in-game map screen, which you don't really need.

Do not buy Saints Row 2. I confess I haven't played much of it, because what I have played has not been very enjoyable. The handling on the cars is bad, the graphics are substandard, the guns sound pathetic and no effort in the slightest was put into making it usable on PC. For example you cannot use your mouse on menus, you must cycle through them with arrow keys and shift buttons. There may be mods that fix some of the issues but I don't think its worth all the effort.

Thanks for the replies.

I'll probably pick up The Saboteur.

There's a patch on Fileplanet for the ATI problems now that I look a little harder, but it mentions it doesn't help with Intel quad core processors, which I have. :/

So in the Amazon cart:

The Saboteur
Enemy Territory: Quake Wars
Borderlands
X-Blades (Yeah I know...)

Not bad for a cheap game spree.

Saints Row 2 has fun gameplay, but the PC port is crap. My card exceeds the recommended system requirements but I still get lots of stuttering and the car handling is really bad.

You'd be better off waiting for Saints Row 3. They're not letting a different company do the PC port this time.
