So sad Lydia died

Post » Thu Jun 07, 2012 12:48 pm

Well it was truly a sad moment when my faithful companion Lydia got killed. I could have used save/load but I didn't want to cheat. She got killed by some vampires. I've decided to become a werewolf and eat vampires to honor her memory and as a role playing perk.

Is there a resurrection spell in the game? Not reanimate, but a legit way to bring her back to life without using the console?

I hired some dunmer merc but she either died or I lost her somewhere. Just not the same.

Are there any other nice looking females like Lydia I can get as a companion?

pretend you found some magic wizard that can bring back the dead for a price dump 5000gold in a lake, then console command

Lydia is one of a very few companions that are essential and can't die.(Maybe it's like that for all the Housecarls?) Are you sure she is dead? I've seen her resurrect herself in livestreams and it's even listed she isn't killable on http://elderscrolls.wikia.com/wiki/Lydia . You may actually have killed her by accident though. :shakehead:

She died for me also dude, was a lost amongst the confusion of a mad fight, I think she may have been on fire, and me trying to put it out with my sword possibly didn't help.

It would take the GECK or whatever to confirm it but I think she's on the list of people only you can kill.

Lydia definately can die so try to avoid that.

She's a really useful companion who will equip the best gear you give her and will follow your lead (i.e. she won't nececarilly go charging into the midst of a bunch of enemies).

If you give her some Healing Potions she will use these instead of dying until they run out.

It takes a lot to kill her but if you get careless she'll die.

She definitely died. I didn't know about giving her healing potions and that she would actually use them, that would have come in handy. There is no way I killed her I was down below fighting a small army of vampires and she was up above. I finished off my group and there was still a blood vampire remaining, so I killed it and saw Lydia laying there. I had seen her get knocked down before, that is like a warning that they are very low health but if a monster hits them when they are down like that they die for good.

I still haven't found a suitable replacement. Do other jarls give you housecarls if you do stuff for them?

happened to me as well, I just reloaded though
didn't know she could use potions though
guess i'll just have to give her all my healing potions since I rarely use them

My Lydia died being flamed by a dragon. The wiki page you cited is very helpful - but I'm afraid it says she CAN be killed.

She died on me last night. Had her for 2 weeks game time. She served her purposed as a Thane and I don't miss her. She was steadily getting her !@#$ handed to her. I only used her to carry extra loot.

Damn, then if this is true I"ve been very lucky. Was in a dragon fight yesterday and Lydia was on her knees a couple
of times during that fight. Maybe that dragon took pity?

I'll keep a closer eye on my Lydia. I was under the impression they were only killable by the player.
She's going to have to have extra health pots now for sure.

Well, I'll keep my console finger handy I won't have any guilty conscious to use that to rez her back to life.

Hmm, she gets stomped often with me. I leave her behind and sooner or later she just pops up again. I think she is unkillable until a certain point in the main quest and then she is just like any other companion. I've been cave diving instead of doing the main quest so I think I'm good for now, lol.

lydia can die, and quite easily if ur a mage. normally, she wont die to random dmg. she'll just go down to her knees and rest for a bit, then return to fight. but if u attack her while she's on her knees, she will die. ive had to reload many times due to forgetting to use lightning bolt instead of chain lightning in dungeons.

she can also die if she gets hit REALLY hard (basically 1 shot by a giant is the only thing that will do it). i used the become ethereal shout and jumped down a cliff, assuming lydia would catch up eventually. when she didnt, i went back to find her (i use her as a pack mule for my various swords/axes that i might use/give to another follower). turns out, she found a wolf, which she got attacked by. that wolf led her to a nearby giant/mammoth camp that i hadnt discovered yet. that little stunt cost me a good 5 minutes due to reloading an autosave...

lydia is no different from other companions, whe they go low hp, they kneel down and regenerate
normale enemys ignor them while that, but if the are hit by some aoe, trap whatever, they die

you can ressurect lydia and make her immortal
just get conjuration to atleast 90, then you get a permanent ressurect spell

Lydia can also fall to her death if she gets on bad footing or accidentally shoved by the player or an NPCs.

but does she still work as a pack mule in this state?
