So. Here we are. We've all done it, or had it done to us. There's a glitch in your system, you accidently hit yes on that "are you sure you want to overwrite?" button, somehow it happens and you manage to lose a character you've spent 27 precious hours on. I recently made such a mistake, deleting my prized Paladin Dedreck with Repair and speech of 100, whom I had just used to finish Veronica's side quest with, and I decide to begin a new load out. I'm almost out of goodsprings and I go to save and overwrite my old character's save. Losing him forever.

Has this ever happened to you? Do you remember the specifics? When I did it I was bored, and so I came here to make this thread to share my sorrow with the world. If anyone has had the same thign go ahead and post on here what the character was and how you lost it.

I currently have 715 saves so I wouldn't loose more than a few minutes of progress.

I did this on oblivion once, but have learnt my lesson since, so I have at least 5 back up saves for each toon and just go over the oldest one, still I fell ya pain though, :cookie:

I did have a backup save, but...wnt from level 17 to level 12 and now th legion wants me dead.

I did this once.. but it was with a maxed out pokemon game.. so not really relevant..

Yeah, that is unlucky. When I create a new build, I'll be sure to have at least 3 saves for each character...

Oh well, it could be worse.

I know what you mean (I deleted a couple of "no turning back" plot line saves) but it all comes to habit. I always overwrite from the bottom. So maybe in that screen, a helpful tip would be to carefully look at all of the saves before overwriting.

It probably has happened but I keep a plethora of saves so I would only lose a couple hours at most.

i too know the OP's pain. then i started over.

I have overwritten a save file one or three times in my playing of these games. However since I keep a lot of save slots, this has never cost me more than an hour or two.

One thing I wish is we could name our saves when we made them. That way this would not happen, or happen as easilly. There is a way to do it on the PC, but this would be good for all platforms.
