Is it safe to assume the patch for consoles will...

Thus meaning we have to pay for it?

Whether it will or not is unknown, although I would think that the patch will probably be seperate from the DLC regardless of whether it comes out on the same day or not.

It'll probably be released at the same time, but the patch is most likely going to be free.

if I was a PS3 or eventually a PC owner I would be pretty pissed about that, wainting for a patch that is included in a DLC that I wouldn't get in months.
Anyway, not gonna happen, patch will be appart from the DLC.

Patches will be distributed like all patches are and there will be no cost for a patch. No one will have to buy additional content to get the patch.

As a PS3 owner I know my PS3 automatically updates when connected to the internet and in my experience with FO3 GoTY a patch that also did its installation automatically was included on the disc. Which I both disliked because I don't have much choice other than to except these stupid patches, even if they do not work. But I'm not on a console anymore so it's hard to say how it will be realized for NV.

The PC players got an "incremental patch." Which is usually a way of saying part of a work-in-progress update.

Not entirely correct. Bethesda released an "incremental" patch through Steam three weeks ago, yes. It was not the "comprehensive patch" they were reported to be working on, but instead was a small patch that was meant to correct a few issues.

It didn't go well. First there was a bug with creatures being set essential and therefore unkillable, and a hotfix had to be released immediately to patch the patch. Then the reloading animation bug that affected the Cowboy Repeater got spread to all other similar weapons instead of being fixed....this was not corrected by the hotfix. Then, although many people saw performance improvements from the patch, some others saw a negative effect on their performance, with the reason still not being known I believe.

I suspect the problems with that "incremental patch" pretty much killed the chances of anyone getting any more "incremental patches". So now we are all waiting for the "comprehensive patch" to pass quality control and be released.

No, because we payed for the game already and if were paying for them to fix it even after we payed, Obsidian who'd loose all its reputation... Also does anyone know if theres a trailer for Dead Money soon.....

Game Patches are independent of any other content and will be offered free of charge to all customers when the patch is finalized and released. We expect the patch to be released before the DLC is released, but that is only a guess on my part. A good guess, but still a guess.

Well I would seriously hope so. Dead Money isn't released for another 3 weeks. Lets face it though...the patch will probably be released as a automatic update on the same day as the DLC. Not as PART of the DLC but on the same day none the less.

It's pretty accepted that we're not paying for a patch to help the game run smoother. I wish we had a date for the DLC on other platforms but I just posted another thread about that. Any word on what the patch is going to remedy?

I've hit the don't enter Vegas unless you're wearing a Cowboy hat bug.

Today I came across the wonderful benefit of NOT receiving the Scribe Counter from Veronica when I had carefully killed someone without notice to loot their dress. hey she's worth it! And what the heck it turns out I can't get this perk if I completed or even had comments in conversation leading up to "I Could Make You Care." Oh, too bad I already did that way earlier because I wanted the benefit of Power Armor from the BoS.

Just keep it coming is all I'm saying! I felt like Fo3 was patched and then abandoned when it was "good enough" but there were always problems with that game unless you mod your PC version. I would like to give up a little thanks that the PS3 version of Vegas runs far smoother already and doesn't have that lame save file issue that FO3 had. My PC can run this game handedly, but I like sitting on the couch watching it on a huge screen.
