Sandbagging Levels

Post » Sun Jun 10, 2012 8:28 am

Does anyone else sandbag levels? Meaning, they don't even go to the level up screen until they hit an area they cannot overcome through other tactics?

I have a character that's level 33, sitting on I don't know how many level-ups.

It is a powerful strategy if you are on the unfortunate side of a battle to the death.

I tried that with a character who completed much of the game at level one. Then it hit me that it was making the game easier, and not harder, as I had originally intended. He had an almost full suit of daedric (upgraded from ebony drops) and several skills at 100. It was actually a decent challenge, but mainly due to the 100 hp/mana/stamina level and lack of any crafting perks.

Never done it, but the idea intrigues me. I'll try it in a future play-through.

I see how it can be easier since the enemies only scale with level and not skill or equipment.

How about leveling up and just spreading the health stamina and magica points out, even if you don't need magica or stamina?

A 'powerful strategy'? Heh. More like finally deciding to play smart. Similar to the guy who gets a machine gun and doesn't know it has a rapid-fire mode, and goes around for days firing it single-shot until he gets charged by 1,000 enemy soldiers all at once, and only then finally figures out he can rapid-fire. If you'd been leveling stuff up properly, you wouldn't have gotten into such a tight spot, as you'd have had the perks/tools you needed to deal with it already, and known how to use them to prevent the near-death experience. Brilliant strategy? No... just delayed intelligence.

But that guy saves tons of money on ammo. =3
