I've lost a couple of saves already.

Anyone else?

I'm not sure if I can help in any significant way, because it hasn't even DLed yet for me. Buuuuut...

Fallout 3 had a similar issue, whenever you would save on Microsoft Live, those saves would only be available when you logged onto ML. The Microsoft Live saves would not carry over to offline play, as they were (for some stupid reason) separate saves.

I have no idea if New Vegas uses Windows Live, though. I hope I helped in some miniscule way.

It's a known bug. You can retrieve one of the previous saves, but apparently not the last one.

me too AshJ! I play on PC and when i end my session with a quick save (which i always do) and come back the next time it is gone. The only quick save recognized it the one i made before i ended my very first gaming session. I've had many sessions since then and now I have to hard save before exiting. I'm not used to doing that at all and its a bit annoying

Yes, it's the stupid steam cloud thing, because the cloud saves are from earlier this afternoon, even though the saves in my folder are obviously newer, fallout NV is ignoring them.

This is complete BS - ALWAYS USE LOCAL SAVES FIRST UNLESS THE CLOUD ONES ARE NEWER... this is like first year client server spoonfeeding computer science failure, right here.

c:\program files\steam\userdata\\\
has two files, autosave and quicksave dot fos.

These two files are the steam cloud sync - they overwrite your c:\users\\my documents\my games\falloutnv\saves\ folder entries when the game launches.

This is assuredly steam's fault, although the developer could have ensured this didn't happen by only using the cloud saves if they were newer.

can we get a developer on this, STAT?

Do you know what a [censored] md5 sum is? I just lost 5 hours of game play because the steam cloud didn't sync my new save that was named the same as my old save. Thanks guys! Next time implement a md5 check ok? A MONKEY COULD CODE IN AN MD5 SUM CHECK. I COULD CODE IN AN MD5 SUM CHECK, and I'm probably less intelligent than a monkey.
