Scaled Helmet of Waterbreathing to disenchant

Post » Wed Jun 06, 2012 12:54 am

I'm searching now the last enchantments missing on my list:
Huntsman Prowesses
Fortify Unarmed
Muffle
Resist Poison
Water Breathing.

Today I just found an Helmet of Waterbreathing to disenchant and put on a ring. I don't need to have Volsung anymore. It can now rejoin the other masks.

So now the place: I bought it in Riften from Balimund the Blacksmith at the market place.

Where did you find the helmet of waterbreathing? That's an enchant I need as well. I took a set of gauntlets off a guy in the Ratway that had +Unarmed on them. Try looking there.

The Poachers Axe found on a bandit in Halted Stream Camp is the only way to get Huntsman's Prowess.

I've found Muffle and Waterbreathing on random stuff, ironically the first time I found them, they were both on pieces of Dwarven gear. I think the boots were in a chest at, uh wherever that quest that Jaree-ra in Solitude ends up. Forget the name of the cave.

Thanks for the tips guys.

- I found the Poachers Axe at the beginning of this game but I sold it not knowing its importance.

- I'll visit a few caves for Muffle.

- I'm on my way to Ratway..

Clearspring Cave which is part of Clearspring Tarn has the Bow of the Hunt which also has the Huntsman Prowess enchantment. However, it is +20 Dmg to animals rather than the +3 the axe has. Oh yeah, the Tarn is in the Rift, north side, west of Northwind Summit (dragon lair), southwest of Northwind Mine, and northwest of Shor's Stone.

As I said, just bought it in Riften.

And thanks to you I have just got the Gloves of the Pugilist. I went to Ratway and killed with my fists Gian the Fist.

OK. I'll give a try. Will let you know sooooon..

Edit: Too bad, I already cleared it with Aela to retrieve one of the totems. I suppose it's true that it's not possible to disenchant the bow because at that moment I was always checking to disenchant my loot on the arcan enchanter in Dragon Reach. That's why it's still missing on my list. But thank you so much for that hint.

Don't worry, the "importance" of that enchant is whether it is important for you to have them all. It is easily forgettable.

According to UESP the Bow of the Hunt can't be disenchanted. Still got to be worth trying.

It's not worth trying. It's a waste of time. They can't be disenchanted.

The same is true for Predator's Grace (hide boots with muffle and 1% stamina regeneration) at Hag's End. They can't be disenchanted either.

Bummer, didn't know it couldn't be disenchanted. I had previously found and disenchanted the axe so never worried about disenchanting the bow. Why can't it be disenchanted?

Actually, you can also get it from Bow of the Hunt in Clearspring Cave (under Clearspring Tarn). And yes, it can be disenchanted (referring to other posts after yours) - I just did so today. Unless it's glitchy (which is possible).

Look now at my new post. I found it and it's in the secret chest of Markarth. Today. So go have a look. You can maybe also buy them.

You would be the first to make such a claim, because the wiki, personal experience, and dozens of other accounts say otherwise. And I have yet to see anyone make that claim for Predator's Grace.

Maybe there's a difference between the computer and the 360...

I believe to have seen the poacher's axe at the Drunken Huntsman for offer. Might however not show up before a certain level.

Thank you Sdack, I'll try every 2 days. I might find it. In that case I'll let you know.

Is the loot and shop lists for enchanted gear level dependent or is it just dumb luck?

I ran across several water breathing helms in my last play though, but I'm up to level 50+ on my current play though with 90+ hours of gameplay and for the life of me I can't find a waterbreathing item to disenchant anywhere! :brokencomputer:

I believe it is level dependent, but I have not played at a low level for a while. I remember the items at the shops getting better over time.

Some things can take a very long time until they show up. I found a few items only after level 40 and now at 64 is my list still not complete. This is where the Treasure Hunter perk of the Lockpicking skill tree will come in.

Yeah, I found a necklace of waterbreathing, and such items generally are NOT disenchantable. If I can remember where I put it, I'll check for sure, but I pick up many items thinking, "hey, I could use that in my list," only to find it grayed out at the table.

How can you get rid of the Volsung? You still have 20 carry weight and 20% better prices besides the waterbreathing enchantment. With the enchantment you can take away waterbreathing. WIth high speech, you don't need the 20% better prices but it boils down to the carry weight. You can't just drop the extra 20 carry weight!

Yeah you can. I never use + carry weight because of the Deep Pockets perk and I put all of my points into Stamina.

I found a place where it's relatively easy to get a helmet of waterbreathing. Part way though Ironbind Barrow, there's a random enchanted heavy helmet on a pedestal, obviously a trap. IIRC, it's nothing worse than an easily avoidable arrow trap.

Most water breathing helmets are heavy, so after a while of reloading it's highly likely you'll get a helmet of water breathing.
