Scared of the Dwenmer Ruins

Post » Mon Jun 11, 2012 5:57 am

I am finally on a character that I like/love and will be playing her to the end. I got a few quests sending me to dwenmer ruins and I am dead scared. I remember going into one with a scrapped character and I got all freaked out by the construct I had found. I even tried to hit it and almost no HP was taken so I booked. I haven't gone into a dwenmer ruin since and that was about a month ago. I think the mysteriousness of the dwenmer and how creepy a ruin can be have freaked me out.

Now I'm playing my sneaky mage and I gotten far enough in the college's quests to be sent to one. I feel like I built this character better than some others and am wondering whats a good level to take on a dwenmer ruin. Is it like fighting giant's where ranged combat and a mid level (25 - 35) are better? I just want to know if I trek all the way over there if I might be able to clear it. What's other people's views on the dwenmer ruins?

And I thought I was the only one.
I just can't help but feel scared of the Dwemer ruins, too. I barely made it through Mzulft, Alftand, Mzalsomething and other quest-related ones.
What can I say, whenever I hear I have to go somewhere where those damn creepy Falmer and robotics reside, I make this face: :cryvaultboy:

Depends what's inside. Constructs are annoying, but a good weapon or spell would put them down with a little planning beforehand. Falmer, on the other hand, I only face when I need to. Nopenopenopenopenope :ahhh:

I eat Falmer for breakfast, which isn't the problem. The problem is they give me the runs.

With the construct, do you perhaps mean Dwarven Centurions? Those can indeed be nasty to tackle. If you're around level 25 you should be able to take one at a time, assuming you're not playing on Expert of Master difficulty. Using ranged offense helps too.

The atmospherics of the steam works are by no means the best dungeons in Skyrim, they're original in layout, design and are amongst some of the most challenging and well thought out interiors. As for Dwemer constructs, they can be tough but with the right Illusion percs, can easily be manipulated, I would stay hidden as much as you can, these boys can smell your fear, unfortunately for you!

by mid level, without any over powered anything, I was able to reliably make it thru ruins. I just keep a bunch of health potions on me. I assume the mean machine you are talking about is a dwarven centurion. They are pretty tough, but at mid level they are managable.

the dwemer ruins can be a bit creepy at times, but if you're playing a sneaky character with decently leveled sneak you can get past a lot of things undetected. if you're quiet the falmer won't detect you (they can't see!). the dwemer spiders aren't usually too tough, but spheres and centurions can always pose a threat to lightly armored characters, but are avoidable in most ruins. best advice is to save often as you never know when something will pop out of a wall or step on a trap and get whacked by the helicoper traps

I love exploring the ruins and the challenges they present :)

LOL thank you guys... so I've got awhile still until I should play with them (Level 16) and yes what I saw was a centurion and I also pooped. I thought I was being a puss for being scared and looks like I'm not alone.

I'm running destruction fire / ice and I can sneak just fine. I should maybe sneak a little more and come well prepared for a good fight. Lots of potions and such.

*IHMO falmer are just beaches that need to be slapped
