All my drivers are up to date, I'm currently running Windows 7, and uninstalling and installing again didn't seem to solve the problem. Anyone else has the same issue, or at least knows how to fix this?

Nobody has a solution? i have the latest realtek driver (alc887), windows seven 64, and everything up to date. Suround sound 5.1. The audio works fine apart from that specific issue, and i never came accross such a problem.All my games work fine (black ops, oblivion, fallout 3, mafia 2..)Thanks for replies!

At first I thought that there was something broken in the audio files for those specific weapons and VATS, but after reinstalling three or four times, nothing has changed.
I'll add my specs and maybe later a DX diagnostic, but I'm pretty sure everything's fine. Like latomb, this problem happens only with NV.

Exactly, i meant "the face wrap NCR of the NPCs.Excuse my english, it is not my mothertongue! I think it could be a 5.1 issue with the game.Because as i said, the surround in game works fine, excepting when i talk to NCR soldiers with the Face Wrap, and suddenly you hear like interferences and cracks, like screeching....

Anyway yes, that's the exact same thing that happens to me, but only in different situations. It seems that entering slow-motion or more generally when the screen goes blurry for something (for example, when Doc Mitchell gets you up of bed at the start of the game or when you leave his house) triggers that static, screeching sound. The problem right now seems almost spreading, since I'm starting to experience it even when I'm out of the wastes listening to the radio.

It may be a codec issue- do you have the Klite or CCCP codec packs installed? If so you may wnat to try removing them and seeing if that helps. Otherwise I would go to the C-Media Electronics website (your soundcard manufacturer) and download the latest drivers for your device. Unfortunately I can not be sure from the DXDIAG which of those cards exactly is in your machine but you might be able to find you by looking at your device manager or in your system properties.
Here's a basic list of sound troubleshooting items you can try:

1. Go to Start -> Run -- type in dxdiag and hit OK

Nah its not a codec issue, i dint instal any codec and i had this problem before, my dx diag is in my first post and in the second post, its a video showing the bug. (first one the sound was muted and it was trough my mic the sound, second video is the bug unmuted:/ should probably remove the first video:/)

I haven't been able to try a couple of the suggestions for fixing the problem (especially the "Sample Rate Conversion Quality" and the "Sound Acceleration" ones) simply because I'm a noob.The tutorial you have pointed me is step-by-step for XP systems, and having Windows 7 as my operating system I wasn't able to figure out myself where to go.
The other game fixes instead didn't do nothing to solve the sound problem
My audio is already in 2:1 Stereo, and my soundcard is a Techsolo TC-B16.
Originally, at the time this thread was created, I had an AC-97 integrated soundcard, but seeing how I wasn't able to fix this sound issue, I bought this TC-B16. Oddly enough, right after installing the new soundcard, the problem vanished. Then after a couple of days, it came back, exactly as it was before.
The same thing happened when I installed FNV for the first time, when I still had my old integrated soundcard. I had no problems for two or three days, and then this freaking sound issue popped out of nowhere.
Now I'm REALLY hopeless.
I don't have the slightest idea of what to do, besides playing the game without audio at all. I would really appreciate another explanation of those two steps of the list that I wasn't able to figure out, since they're my only lead so far. Thanks again, Anyway.

Just an idea like that, can you try to make falloutnv.exe start with window98 compatibility? worth a try and its easy to do:/

Thanks for the idea, but if I do that, it gets even worse.
Starting it with w98 compability makes it crash right after I click "Play" from the Launcher, with the usual "Fallout New Vegas has stopped working" message. -

It's actually kinda odd, but it's a while now that I've been experiencing a really strong screeching sound in the launcher menu, when I enter VATS, during slow-motion cutscenes and almost everytime I reload certain weapons in-game, like the Single Shotgun. Everything else runs smoothly, without other audio issues. It's really annoying though, since pretty much every fight makes my ears explode |:
All my drivers are up to date, I'm currently running Windows 7, and uninstalling and installing again didn't seem to solve the problem. Anyone else has the same issue, or at least knows how to fix this?

Double check those C Media audio drivers. The ones you have installed

Double check those C Media audio drivers. The ones you have installed are dated from before the retail release of Windows 7. There may be upgraded drivers for improved compatibility with Win7 available.
Unfortunately, it seems that this Techsolo soundcard is cheap crap. The drivers on my DXDIAG are indeed the latest drivers, and they are for Windows Vista. |:
However, the soundcard still works awesomely with everything that isn't FNV, and even when I had my integrated AC97 soundcard with the latest compatible drivers for Win7, I still had this screeching problem. It seems (since I already changed soundcard twice, without any luck) that the problem isn't the soundcard or the drivers, but something else.
Though I don't have a clue of what it could be.

I feel really bad about it, but since I STILL haven't found any solution, I'm forced to bump this thread once again.
FNV has become almost impossible to play with the sound on, and it's actually really frustrating.
If someone, anyone, has the slightest clue of what the cause could be, please reply. |: I'm about to surrender with this game.
