I screwed up. Bad.

Post » Mon May 02, 2011 8:11 pm

This is bad. I was taking the quest where you have to follow Caesar's orders and destroy Mr. House's "weapon," or something like that, and I accidentally punched one of the Legion members in the face. Now they all want me dead. But, oh no, that is not the worst part. The worst part is, in panic, I decided to run into a building to try and avoid the guy I punched. Turns out, I had settings where it would SAVE THE GAME whenever I entered a building. Now, whenever I respawn after getting killed by a Legion member, I respawn right in front of a group of them and die again. I am stuck, and I'm 9 and a half hours into the game. PLEASE, PLEASE TELL ME THERE IS A WAY THAT I CAN FIX THIS.

Just load an earlier save. Hopefully you won't lose too much progress.

Put away your fists, Or run run run and come back later.

Also, please tell me you save the game manually.

Nope, I'm [censored] and only have one save file. This is possibly the worst thing that could have ever happened to me.

Use a stealth boy to run off, if you don't have one, try wearing their armor, then come back in a day or later then.

Well, now you've learned your lesson. You'll either have to break out of there or start again.

"Accidentally punched a Legion member." Oh, you know. It's just a twitch. :P

You wouldn't happen to be on the PC would you? I don't think you are, but hey.

If you can't fix it, you could always take this game in a different direction and then do your plan for the first game next time? Good luck.

Already tried everything suggested here. Might as well erase and start over.

You could, or you could just type 'tgm' (god mode) in the console and walk out of the place, come back in a few days and it's all dandy.

Not on PC. I'm pretty sure my situation is escape-proof.

No! Don't! If you are on console and looking for the cheevos/trophios I suggest taking another path, either way just continue, its not so bad, there are like a lot of paths to continue story.

Before playing a game I always disable the autosave, it's just too easy to have something bad happen. I also make a permanent save every few levels or before major events that I leave alone and my active play involves three or four saves that I rotate. Sometimes I'll discover that I screwed something up ages ago and I'm out of luck but I rarely loose more than half an hour of play.

Do you happen to have loads of chems on you? You could spam those and you might make it out.

Don't think you understand. I've been trying for quite a while now to escape this damn Legion camp, and it's impossible. Even with a Stealth Boy. Whenever I respawn, there are about 6 legion members behind me, so I can't really outrun them. In addition, I only have about 20 HP.

I'll have to remember to disable autosave from now on. "Now on" being me starting the game all over again.

I guess I've already realized there's no way out of this except restarting the game... but before I do, I should put this footage on Youtube.

WoW! One save file? I hate to say it bro but you were just asking for it...I find myself damn near saving every lil event I get myself into for fear of a power outage or in accidental death i.e. Deathclaw encounter. You should have AT LEAST a good 40 save files you can cycle through. It really helps

I kinda didn't want to save almost all the time, even though I knew I needed to. Because you see, Fallout 3 covers hundreds of MB on my XBOX 360 hard drive with save files ALONE, so I was kinda hoping to avoid that with New Vegas, considering I only have a gig of space left. :P

wait, so, you never manual save? you just use autosaves? Really? lol, what if you start a new game? anyway, its easy enough to ditch them. go back the way you came and avoid them long enough (drop anything heavy and make sure youa ren't crippled) and you can eventually get out. After that you can wait for a few days and then come back, they should be fine.

How in the world do you play fallout without manual saves? This game has so many glitches and bugs that you should always have at least 4-5 manual saves lined up so you can go back and redo parts to fix the mess ups. Hell its the only way I am even able to play this game without throwing my PC at the wall. In my last hour of playing alone i had...
1. Ed-E disappear on me (so i reloaded to a save i had 5 min before and redid what i just did)
2. Dr. Kelly glitched at the elevator in Vault 22 and instead of going inside got stuck fixing the damn thing so again i want back to another save
3. Boone head shot the person i was supposed to be collecting the bounty for so again back to a previous save.

Make it a habit to save at least once every 5-10 min and have them lined up in case of in game mishaps, blunders, glitches, and other such nonsense.
