Script: Change model when sheathed (NIF1=>NIF2)

Post » Thu Jun 21, 2012 2:49 am

Hello

Is there any way for someone like me, that has no clue 'bout scripts, to create a script that changes the NIF file when i sheath a weapon?

I want to create a 2nd faked sheath for my WIP sword...i simply added a 2nd sheath to my sword's NIF. So when it is sheathed i want to use a NIF that contains a model with sword in it, when i draw the sword i want it to use another NIF without sword in it - to keep the illusion of a working sheath alive (without draw animation of course).

So in fact i need a script that changes from NIF1 => NIF2 when drawn.
Optional a script would be nice that changes a shield's nif when blocking.

This is the first time i need a script, i spend most of my time modeling stuff so it wouldn't be worth the effort to learn the whole stuff just for one script...if there is an easy way to get it working i would appreciate it, no problem if it is too hard to do...then i'll just add an empty sheath without script ;)

Thx&greetings

No one? I've seen that the Mechanical Dwemer Shield/Blade addon seems to use an useable script but pretty hard for me to reduce it to the necessary entries / reverse engineer it :(

I was thinking of doing the same thing, but with Armors. I'm currently downloading this mod you mentioned, might help me (and probably you) ;)

Ghosu,

I'm currently looking at the script. It looks like the author provides 2 NIFs, one when sheathed, one when drawn. In order to do this, you can easily force player (upon starting the drawing animation or ending the sheathing animation) to equip a different equipment altogether

So, you actually create 2 weapons: one for use when sheathed, another when you draw it.

But honestly, unless you're creating an elaborate animation, I don't see why you would create a "faked" sheath? The vanilla sheath is already very realistic, in that the weapon is actually sheathed into the scabbard

Jeah i know that it comes with 2 nifs each item...but i have no clue how to create a script to change them :D
A fake 2nd sheath...when you dual wield a 1h sword you only see one vanilla sheath.
