I was looking a bit forward on the wikis and I have a question. Does the war finishes with this quests, like in no more need to choose a side, everyone happy, become thane of Windhelm without battle for Whiterun? Or you just do this quest then continue the fights ending with one of the leaders killed?
Right now I have the crown but not willing to give it to any of the sides. Can I do this stage of the main quest in this situation? (Would really love to appear at the meeting wearing the crown)

No, you can continue, but only after the MQ is over. It's really a cease fire agreement not a peace treaty.

on another note you need to finish the mq, because otherwise that whole bit would be entirely pointless , i mean, you would make a peace treaty and the next day you join the stormcloaks to bring down the empire.....:@
