Secret Chest List and How to's. (query)

Post » Thu Jun 21, 2012 1:25 am

Greetings, all!

So I found that invisible chest in Dawnstar, as I'm sure many of you did.
I heard about the Whiterun chest too.
My questions are #1: are there any other 'invisible chests' in Skyrim that are easily accessible? (I heard the one in Whiterun is actually 'outside' the map and a pain to get to.)
#2: Where are they and how do I get to them?

Thanks, everybody!

To the right of the first gate you should see like a litle tree or shrub. When looking at the ground you should see a blue looking twig. Crouch and search the area around the twig and you should find it. You must be crouched.

Is there anything worthwhile in these chests?

I think the chests are just Shopkeeper's chest. The one in Whiterun is the Companion-Smith's Chest.

Worth mentioning that the loot in these chests are leveled with player, so not worth checking them till you are at a reasonable level imo.

Yes. The one in Dawnstar and the one outside Solitude are for the Kajhiit caravanners, although the Dawnstar one is nowhere near the camp. There's another outside Markath: near the bridge over the river there's a length of wall with chopping block behind it. If you face the wall it's to the left of the block.

All the vendors have crates, and most are too deep for players to detect, but in a couple of cases, like these, Beth seem to have left them too close to the surface. Gotta love the CK for finding these things...

Those poor Khajiit. No wonder they have to turn to smuggling, drug trafficking, and working with the Thieves' Guild. You people keep taking all their merchandise.

FWIW, even if you take the stuff while the caravan is there, none of them care.

Most of these things can be found on Youtube.

I saw the video to locate the secret chest at Solitude yesterday.

Chests are the mechanism for the merchants to get new stock and to level their inventory to the player. Every merchant has one in the game. Most are just next to the outside the interior cell of the merchants building so it is inaccessible in the game. If you were to TCL in any merchants place and wander around outside the walls, you would find them too.

Since the caravan's do not have an interior cell, they had to put the chest somewhere. Since the outdoor map may treat things that are not part of the main map differently (as in unattached things may float off) they just made the caravan chests invisible, but, ultimately findable.

But if you're going to go this route, it's a great way to get starting Septims, crafting materials and some work on your speech skill.

Do they respawn? I did the Dawnstar one early on, and it still is empty. Not sure if I screwed it up.

Every couple of days, talk to the vendor usually works for restocking them.
