Self-appointed PS3 Fallout:NV Test Group

My problem was probably worse than most. My game locked up upon first talking to the robot who rescued you. I was not able to power down with the standard power button, so I had to switch the game off using the switch in back. Big mistake (not that I had much of a choice, mind you). Upon rebooting, I found that my optical drive would no longer spin and wouldn't recognize any media whatsoever. Since my warranty was out of date, this means I had to buy a new PS3. Yes, I spoke to a Sony technician and, yes, I had the option of paying nearly $200 to get it repaired. However, it seemed a waste when I could pay $100 more for a newer system with 4x the space. Still, FNV has been an expensive game for me thus far...

As you might guess, this has soured me to buying games before they are patched and confirmed to be in good working order. :(

Duuuuuude, that svcks. It seems weird that what you describe would cause the whole system to [censored]-up, is there any chance it was just a really [censored] coincidence? :(

Duuuuuude, that svcks.

Thanks for posting. However, please don't use foul language, it makes the moderators upset and they will lock up this thread and/or boot you. I don't make the rules, but I have seen it enforced.

On another note, that may be a coincidence with the PS3 completely breaking... at least, i'd like to think so. Sorry to hear of the misfortune.

I just see it saying [censored] .. Don't understand why that would be a big deal. Also it seems odd mods would care considering how much foul language the game we're discussing has in it :/ colour me confused.

But for the sake of civility, I won't use censored words anymore.

50 votes strong in less than 24 hours.

One quick question, if anyone out there put down "other" for store that the game was purchased at, where did you purchase it?

Another issue to add which has happened to me twice so far and has never happened to me on any other game. Black screen then it goes straight to the XMB menu.

Seen this a few times now from different people, yet to experience it myself, but I added it, you can delete your vote and revote if you wish

The only issue I've been having is really low framerates and the skipping of frames when walking around the wasteland, and when in buildings. Apart from that the game has only frozen twice for me. So...fix the framerate please Obsidian...

It's always possible, but I had no hint that anything was wrong until I was forced to hard reboot when the game froze. Granted, I am not suggesting specifically that the game itself messed up my hardware, but rather that the necessary hard reboot may have been the culprit. I suppose it could be that the hardware failure contributed to my gameplay freezes rather than the other way around. I probably have no way of knowing which is the case.

Either way, it's a little coincidental to read about all these freeze issues, to have virtually the same thing crop up, and to have it coincide with a hardware failure. I certainly shouldn't have to hard reboot under any circumstances in which a game crashes.

Not sure if others are having this issue but there are slight 1-2 second hangs constantly while wandering the wasteland every 30-50 steps. Also some really bad collision detection in some areas (if you try to shoot past the corners of some building your bullets seem to hit the building even if you are aimed up to a foot away from it)

Well now I can't load games at all! I try and it freezes on the load screen. Buying this game was the biggest waste of $89AUD in my lifetime. Thanks.

I've just had one major issue not sure if anyone else has found a way around it. On the quest "Guess Who I Saw Today" I can't finish the mission. Initially the nightkin keene runs in the room and says some things but I didn't actually want to do it at that time so I paused and loaded a previous save. Now when ever I go back to this mission Keene the nightkin won't move from his spot and the doc won't talk to me. So this means I fail two missions, the other being "Nothin' but a Hound Dog." Initially I tried attacking the doctor and Keene then putting away my gun to see if that might reset the situation. Then i tried killing Keene but everyone attacks me so I end up having to kill the doctor. Then I tried stealthboy and put a grenade in Keene's pants but even while I'm still hidden one of the super mutants comes after me and then everyone else starts chasing after me. I've also tried leaving and coming back, and waiting for extensive periods of time up to 24 hours. If anyone has any ideas let me know

Well, for the sake of improving chances of finding people with a similar issue, I'll post my issue here again. It's a mission bug (at least, I sure hope it's a bug and not an actual, purposeful programming issue), and as such I won't post any spoilers. I will just say that I am stuck on the Wild Card mission and can't seem to complete it. For more info, search spoilers area for my thread. But yeah, I can deal with having to hard reset my PS3 every few hours, but this has prevented me from beating the game and it is really making me not want to play the game.

I'm having the same exact problem, with the same mission. I'm on my way back to the strip, through Freeside, and it locks up on me, audio still plays, but the game just stops.

Edit: I posted a picture of my screen on page 2. Hopefully, It can show what I mean.

I hope developers read this so they can maybe look into fixing these bugs:

- Cass sometimes turns invisible. Not game-breaking but annoying nontheless. Happens especially in Gomorrah, mostly in the invitation-only section around Big Sal.
- Cass does not give up her apparel like Boone does. May be intentional, but pretty annoying for people wanting to dress her up differently. I hear the same is true for Veronica but I haven't checked that. I just want her something cool to wear, especially take off the hat. I promise I won't dress her up as a hoker, haha. :-)
- You may not have really noticed this, but when a characters wears larger apparel like power armor, they walk a little differently, and weapons carried on the back turn upside-down to fit the apparel. This of course is logical and intentional. However, when my character (female) wears Ranger Patrol Armor once, she keeps on walking like she wears it no matter what apparel she's actually wearing. So if make her wear Ranger Patrol Armor and then switch to Leather Armor or any other apparel, she keeps on walking like she's wearing Ranger Patrol Armor, with the gun upside-down. The only fix I've found is making her wear Metal Armor, after which she will walk normally again. This has to be done everytime she wore Ranger Patrol Armor, and this is obviously a bug that shouldn't be that hard to fix. The same happens when I let Boone wear it, so it's obviously a bug in the Ranger Patrol Armor itself.
- Cowboy Repeater jams up often. Not like the low-condition jam, but a bug jam. Happens on both male and female characters. When you try to reload the Cowboy Repeater it sometimes does not reload, and the character will hold it in one hand and is not able to do anything with it. You can't shoot it, unequip it or use VATS for some time. Also you cannot access your Pip-Boy. Pretty irritating when you're in a gunfight and you want to shoot, heal or anything else.

Edit: Note this is all on my PS3 copy, European version.

Mine freezes a lot at random, especially while wandering the desert. Also, I still have about a hundred rocket souvenirs in my inventory that I can't drop "cannot drop quest item" or sell even though the quest has finished.

My biggest issue is the random "micro" freezes (where it will stop the game for a single second, then continue), texture pop-in, hell I've seen mountains pop in, and overall unpredictable framerate.

Hell make it run at a solid 25 fps if you can fix this, I honestly would not mind.

Even their forum is having issues... at least for me. I deleted my original vote, seeing as you added more options and got this.

Clipping (objects falling through floors/walls)
Maybe happened once or twice, not a big issue
Game freezes after 8+ hours of gameplay
Done here, but I expected that
Game freezes seemingly randomly
Had this happen about 7 or 8 times
Game freezes when I'm wondering in the Mojave
I don't remember it freezing anywhere else
Addiction to Psycho
That's your own fault buddy
Certain NPC's are missing
Nope
My companion is gone...
EDE seems to want to stay behind me alot.
Item deletion
Nope
Game Save recovery, or lack thereof
Nope
Low frame rates during intense action
Yes
No major issues, just voted to be awesome
Well, I am awesome
Faction reputation resets itself
I HATE THIS!!!!! IT'S DRIVING ME CRAZY!!!
Unable to complete quest due to bug/glitch
Nope
Game exits back to XMB

So I have a huge major problem that not on the list, I pull up iron sights and all it gives me is a computer screen that is blacked out, I can still fire and move round but see nothing, I tried repairing the gun past 75%, but still nothing. This same thing happens whenever I'm lockpicking, hacking, or gambling. It is totally ruining the game for me, I love sniping and now I can't do it!!!
Other then the resetting faction reputations, which is super annoying <_<

Hard times. I actually had the same problem with FO3 in my original PS3. Next time, just eject the disc and the system should restart. Or you can hold the power button for 1 sec to manually power off.

I'm getting an error answering the poll: You must cast your vote in each question of the poll.

I'm getting seemingly random freezes, freezes in the Waste, I can't complete the Helios quest, and I've been dropped to the XMB twice thus far. Usually the game just locks up and I have to power cycle.

It's a great game, it's just sad to see a lot of the same bugs from Fallout 3 have made the trek from DC to Vegas.

Brand new PS3 slim here. The suttering(pausing for split seconds, then normal, rinse and repeat.) in the wasteland is pretty annoying. It does it all the time! It doesn't do it in buildings or anything. The pop in is pretty fail too. Also, does this game not use any AA at all? Jaggies everywhere. ;/
