Serious issue with New Vegas

Post » Tue May 10, 2011 5:37 pm

I know I've already posted this in the PC issues forum but this place seems to get more responses and the issue with my game's getting nasty. I can load the game and start playing, but if I walk forward a few steps, it crashes. I can't play it in offline mode in Steam because it just gets stuck on the preparing to launch screen, and NVSE is now not working after downloading the latest patch. I just tried the game to see if Steam was just updating or something and would now let me play, but NV just crashed again, I had to ctrl alt del to get rid of the "checking for solutions" screen, which then caused Windows to crash and come up with that blue screen that I was too busy being shocked to read. I've never, ever had that blue screen, but I have to go through the ctrl alt del process every single time NV crashes (once every couple of hours) so it wasn't simply because I did that.
What the deuce is going on with NV at the moment? Is anyone else having these issues and does anyone else have any advice?

yep same problem here i was hoping this new patch was gonna fix this stupid crash fest but no such luck, i've been having these crashes since launch. i really wish bethesda would have made the game themselves instead of pawning it off on obsidian

I'm pretty sure I haven't been getting these crashes since launch, as it seems to be only certain areas that crash. I can run around Freeside alright, and Goodsprings, but not Westside, or around Horowitz/Griffin Caravan, Vegas Ruins and so on...

And the patch seems to have broken the Brush Gun. To reload it I now have to open up pip-boy, unequip Brush Gun, re-equip brush gun. Sigh. And Bethesda probably would have made the same mistakes, they can be held equally accountable if they pushed release date too early, before Obsidian could really work out the kinks.

Andgamesas/Steam just released a huge patch for New Vegas like 250MB. Atleast here in the Netherlands. Doesn't that solve you're Problem?

Unfortunately not. I do have the patch installed. I have no idea what's causing the crash but I'm guessing it's either an uncommon problem or Obsidian doesn't know about it or something, or it probably would have been addressed. No idea what could be causing it, usually my CTD's are caused by Steam updating, but it's been five hours now so I'm guessing it's not Steam updating.

Sorry, but we don't like having a bunch of duplicate threads running around. General Discussion might get more overall traffic - but most of those with the experience, know-how, or wherewithal to help you out are going to be found in the proper sub-forum anyway.
