Serious problem with Game on PS3

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 1:33 am

Hi, i have a serious problem with Fallout: New Vegas for Playstation 3.
I could play for about 2 or 3 hours, then i had one freeze.
Later i had to install the update, and after that i started playing again, and it freezed again.
Now i can′t play anymore, Game freezing every moment i try to play.
If i push the button for DVD-eject, game is running again, DVD takes a lot of seconds to come out and the game is -of course- ending.
If i try again, it is the same.

Yesterday i re-installed the game, without the update.
I could play for about 2 hours, then freeze.
I rebooted the console, restarted the game, instantly freezing.

I would really be happy if you have any suggestions to solve this annoying problem.

No DLC, even the Pre-order code i didn′t use so far.
Autosave is enabled.

Yeah, the freeze problem is pretty serious for a lot of people, myself included. For me, it's totally random and insanely frustrating. I mean, I can sometimes play several hours straight without a problem and then out of the blue it locks up. Other times, like this morning, I barely got 30 minutes in on the game before it froze. Like a lot of people, I've tried everything: removing DLC, turning off auto saves, deleting old save points, rebooting the PS3, you name it. As much as I hate it, I guess we'll just have to wait for Beth to get their act together and release a patch.

I would guess the reason for all these crashes is a memory leak. More than likely during testing they could not isolate the cause and fix it so they decided to throw it to the public to help. When you have thousands of people reporting they can hopefully find the issue. Or just give up like with Fallout 3.

Just want to say thanks guys for all your hard work, (General public, not Obsiden staff) although i haven't bought the game yet i'm sure through all your hard ships when i do it will be a much better patched-up working game....... Probably.

Cheers.

I hadn't even considered that one.
I've pretty much reached the same point as the OP in that the game is locking up every time I play now and it's just totally random as to when and where. I'll try this tip and reinstall the game data and cross my fingers that works.
Thanks for the suggestion.

*Update*

Well, I tried this and it didn't help. Game still randomly freezes. :banghead:

Same here, Fallout 3 had some bugs, but not like this. I can't even play anymore, it just freezes in less than a minute now every time I play. This is BS! :banghead:

Well, I have a 60GB launch system and I'm having insane problems with the game randomly freezing. It's not my system; I've tried several other games including FO3 and Oblivion and they run fine.
I can't explain why some people are having serious problems and others are having none at all. All I can say is that it's great for those who are problem free and it svcks for the rest of us. As I've been saying in other threads, I'm keeping my fingers crossed that Beth gets some sort of patch/fix out soon.

Ok, though this is from my PC experience, I'm curious if it may be the same with the consoles.

Next time it freezes, leave it alone. Maybe for up to 2 minutes even.

My PC version freezes for up to 30-40 seconds at times appearing to be a full lock-up. It will crash if I Ctrl+Alt+Delete thinking it has crashed already. If I leave it alone, it actually comes back and continues right from were it froze. My CPU and GPU both read 0% usage during these freezes and would indicate a complete crash, but apparently it's not.

I hope it's the same for console players. Good luck.

Doesn't work for me. I've let it set several times and it just remains frozen. This morning it locked up on me when I was almost done at Black Mountain, so I let it set while I went to shower. No good.

Fallout 3 and apparently New Vegas (of which I pre-ordered both) will never work correctly on the PlayStation. Bethesda does not care about play station users. They only care about Microsoft and the money Microsoft puts in their pockets. Fallout 3 was a terrific game to continue the fallout franchise but Bethesda has ruined the experience for me by not working with or acknowledging their errors with Sony's (far superior in my opinion) system. PlayStation has long been the console for RPG's, while Microsoft makes it's money on shooters with an awkward control system. Unfortunately Shooters seem to be where the money is and Bethesda is in it for the money, not the customer.

The above is all my opinion and the only way Bethesda can rectify themselves in my eyes is actually making fallout work for the PS3 without us consumers having to pay - since I already paid for such a lousy experience. All my other non Bethesda PS3 games work wonderfully.

I will not buy another Bethesda game PS, PC or otherwise. They do not acknowledge their consumers, nor do they address their own faults. If I were you I would not even bother to hope for some form of help from them.
