Setting the verticaloffsetmult on Explosion

Hello. I have been working on giving arrows additional effects through Explosions. I have found, however, that the Explosion object tends to be generated too high up and end up affecting only region above the point of impact. I have tried setting the offsetmult to a wide range of negative and positive values, but nothing has changed visually or functionally. How do I properly use this multiplier?
