Shadow Warrior and Archery

Post » Wed Jun 20, 2012 9:54 pm

So based on Buckom's thread, I made a warrior build that used the shadow Warrior perk to charge enemies and perform one hit instakills. I was curious if anyone has been able to use this strategy with archery.

In theory, you should be able to crouch in plain sight of an enemy and touch off an arrow for critical damage, I just haven't had any luck with it. Anyone else tried this with any success?

My Archery skill is too pathetic to test this for any useful info, but are you referring to using a bow at a melee range or from distance? :P

I would like to know how Shadow Warrior works from someone with a lot or all of the Archery perks.

My sneaky character had maxed archery with all the perks as well as the Shadow Warrior perk. I never used Shadow Warrior with archery because I never needed to. My character seldom got spotted when using his bow and on the rare occasions that he did, the bad guy always died before he could get into sword range.

Mind you, when I was exercising with my daggers I hardly ever used Shadow Warrior, I didn't need it then either.

I use it all the time when I don't feel like pulling solos away from groups or when I'm with a noisy follower. :P

I am wanting to make a character that never sneak, but takes full advantage of sneak attack critical via shadow Warrior. Would you mind testing to see if is viable?

So under what conditions do you want me to test it? You want me to be at a long distance, but undetected or do you want me to run up to them and drop into Sneak and attack with a bow?

Ze second option. I'm curious on the timing. I don't know if you would crouch then fire,or fire then crouch.

OK, here's what I found - tested on Bandits: I did, in fact, get the 3.0x Sneak Attack damage when I ran up to them detected and dropped into Sneak (got the Shadow Warrior standard black-green smoke cloud) even with the "eye" partially opened. Now I did have a little difficulty hitting them because the targets moved back and forth (you owe me 4 Ebony Arrows :P) while shooting at me, but when I did hit them I definitely got the 3.0x. I fired the arrows immediately after I activated Shadow Warrior (ie I didn't wait around to see if they found me) and this was all done at approximately 2100 'local' time.

Now go forth and strike down your enemies as they say, "Where are you?" and "I'll find you." or WeverTF they say.

Now, if you'll excuse me I'm out to finish them off with Ebony Daggers. :P

Did you have to have the bow drawn before crouching to get the sneak attack in time?

 Thanks. You're half-right...I'm pretty smart. :P

Yeah, I drew the bow before I crouched. I use an Ebony bow with zero Archery perks so the momentary Inviso-Sneak would've worn off before I got the arrow drawn back.
