Shame on you for releasing this unready piece of [censored]E

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 11:31 pm

As an avid PC Gamer I expect launch issues and patches. But I was never unable to play the game. This game is absolutely unplayable! Sound issues that required setting up creative alchemy to work. Setting graphics quality to low. I cannot play without crashing every 5 minutes. My system is well over the recommended requirements and is well maintained. After 20 years of PC gaming I have never seen such an abortion released for sale. Then the patch they released today made everything worse if that's even possible. I cant even exit the game without using task manager. My sytem specs:
Gigabyte 890 FX
AMD Phenom 965
8 GB Crucial Ballistics
GTX 470 1 GB overclocked
Creative Fatality XFI
WD raptor/Kingston SSD (tried installing on both.....same [censored]e)

Updated BIOS, Video Card, Sound Card. Disabled all unnecessary programs. Reinstalled twice......so angry now.

Just a joke.

At least you've actually seen the main menu and clicked 'New Game'. I've never made it more than 10 seconds into the copyright screen before I crash.

Patch didn't help either. Time to throw in the towel I think.

Having the same sound issues and crashing. Five minutes of playtime followed by a reboot. I'm pretty tolerant with bugs etc. but when I am booting up my computer more than I am playing, I can't afford to sink in the time. Game is unplayable until this is addressed. I am a bit put off by the idea that the first buyers are defacto beta testers.

Sadly this is to be expected from an Obsidian game (been around since KOTOR 2, trust me on this one). They are notorious for this on every game they make. Give them a few months, I believe even with neverwinter 2 they had most of the game breaking bugs fixed a few weeks after release. For now just thank your lucky stars that the game doesn't have a memory leak that the devs refuse to acknowledge like Obsidian's big brother...

It's really frustrating to be unable to play when a game is released. I couldn't even install Mass Effect 2 when I first got it, and a lot of other people were in the same boat. Luckily I found a workaround a couple days later, but it's super-frustrating. Have you tried returning your video card to stock speeds? If you look around this forum there are some community-discovered workarounds for some of these bugs as well.

TBH I blame publishers for this kind of crap more than developers. The developers don't want their game to be buggy. It's the publishers that push the game out the door before it's ready.

This is an off topic thread, as near as I can make it out. For plain old-fashions rants / venting, that goes in the Off Topic area, Community Discussion, the way I understand the procedures here. This forum is for gamers to discuss with one another, primarily, technical issues related to our PC gaming platforms and to this game. You should ask for this thread to be moved, if you wish to pursue it.

FYI, I do not moderate forums here at Bethesda, I am a gamer and a PC Hobbyist, and a citizen with a belief that there are right ways to do things.

Er, this is a technical forum post, Gorath, it's not an off-topic.

He's complaining about the game not working, ergo not off-topic.

To the OP, I'm sorry you have problems with this game.
I wish the game didn't have problems.
