Sheesh, just take my money, PLEASE!

Post » Sun Mar 06, 2011 3:48 am

I just spent the last 30-40 minutes (no exaggeration) clicking... my index finger is actually mildly sore now... why you ask? I was exchanging NCR currency for Gomorrah chips! How friggin' ridiculous of a system is that?

What-
*click click click* (exchange)
Here's your-
*click click*
What-
*click click click* (exchange again)
Here's your-
*click click*
What-
*click click click* (exchange again)
Here's your-
*click click*

That's basically what I just listened to for the last 20 minutes until I took my headset off and just sat there clicking... I really try not to make complaint threads on the forum, but talk about an oversight! Would it have been such a big deal to input "I'd like to exchange all my NCR/Legion money for chips." instead of making the player stand there clicking? At least when you exchange Legion money the guy just pools it all together since there is only Denarii and Aureii (I'm sure I spelled both wrong, but you know) opposed to exchanging NCR money you have to actually do each individually! For F's sake... by the time I was done I didn't even want to play anymore, let alone gamble... just saved my game, exited, and came here to piss and moan about it.

Anyone else want to pull their hair out because of this or is it just me?

Meh.

I solved this problem with a mod. Sorry.

I do feel your pain though. I was totally there, for a while.

Of course, I only gamble with caps. Never anything else. You can exchange those in 1000's.

Not very helpful for those who don't have the PC version, of course, that's not a problem for me.

But yes, it is kind of annoying, and I don't really see any reason why they couldn't have added an option to echange all money of a certain type, I suppose it would be kind of annoying if you accidentally clicked the wrong thing and handed over all your money of that type, but then you could just turn in your caps, since you don't lose any money in the proccess, and really, chances are you'd want to either use your NCR and Legion money for gambling or just exchange it all into caps anyway.

Yes, I know how you feel dude, I put on an episode of House and watched the entire thing exchanging currency with the cage lady, I had over 100 $5 NCR things among others.

I avoid this by not using NCR money in the Casinos. In fact, I have not found a place to use NCR money other than the casinos so I usually don't even pick it up anymore.

I do all my initial repairs with Old Lady Gibson and offset the cost of those repairs by offloading/trading all valuable and non craftable junk and NCR/Legion Currency to her.

I just exchange all my non-cap money with vendors, since I found the casino cash people far too annoying to deal with.

Well, you could just sell your NCR money to a trader for caps, then exchange caps for chips.

This warrants its own whine thread? Because you are forced to exchange currency? While I do agree that the feature you are talking about sounds very tedious, I absolutely do not agree that you should bother the rest of us with your drivel.

That's what I do with the $5 and $20 ones. You lose a bit of money I think but save a lot of time.

I usually exchange my other currencies either with traders or in smaller batches so I don't run into that problem.

I haven't found any exclusive uses for NCR or Legion money either now that you mention it... I wonder if the money has more value to the appropriate faction's vendors.

Nah, I've seen far too many of those threads already... no need for more, they all say the same thing anyway. :meh:

Yeah, while I was doing all that clicking I was thinking to myself "Self, you should've spent this money at the Gun Runners or something...", oh well. Lesson learned for follow-up playthroughs... lol. :lmao:

Well it's a good thing I didn't ask if you agreed with my line of reasoning for putting this thread up, huh? Now be a good troll and find a bridge to hide under.

PAH! Anyone who ever tried exchanging money for enough chips to get a Porygon in Pokémon Blue will surely laugh at this thread.

Just like Baron Bilbo Baggins has the right to complain about his complaining, what right have you to tell BBB he can't complain? Just shut up and don't post here anymore.

Well I can be a troll, but this wasn't really a troll, not a conscious one at least.
I think I am getting forum weariness.
I come to game forums to share my gaming experience, I have a conviction that if at all possible, you should be constructive when creating a post.
And reading whine after whine, not just on this forum, but on every other gaming forum, it doesn't matter what game it is, the forums are filled with people complaining that THIS game is just the worst game ever, with the most bugs, and they have just wasted X dollars and X hours on it.

I think I just need to ignore the whine threads, it is just really hard when they fill up the majority of every gaming forum.

Now some might conclude that this is because games today just svck, but as a veteran gamer (at least in years) I would have to object to that thought, because really, games are getting better by the year, we had a bad trend in the beginning of this millennium, where it seemed like GFX was all that mattered, and the games really suffered from that, but we are now imnsho turning this curve and have been for the last couple of years, getting better games, with more debt, more extra content, and better overall immersion.

But as stated the OP have every right to whine away, and I have every right to counter whine (even though I know it is totally an oxymoron to whine about whine)
We all have a choice of where we chose to look, we can focus on all the things that are wrong, or focus on all the things that are right.
Your choice!'

Snip

If you check the replies, you'll see that some people have talked about solutions and work around about this problem. So, yes, the thread was constructive. There's a way to make a "whine" constructive, and there's a way not to do it.

That feature also ticked me off, but I never even thought about selling the NCR Money then using the caps I get for chips, nor did I check if a mod covered that out. So it has been a useful thread for me, it's one for the OP and most likely one for other users as well.

How ironic... The original Fallout had a similar issue with trading caps.

Oh my, must be an easter-egg! :P
I admit, I never gambled in both the originals. I never needed to.

Not sure if the below warranted a spoiler block or not...

Spoiler
It is mentioned by some of the NPC's that the NCR is trying to introduce paper money into the local economy, but the locals are still clinging to the cap as the standard issue money. Thus the NCR $ has suffered inflation, and is only worth about 1/2 as much as caps.

Not sure on the Legion faction money, probably a similar situation.
