I think I forgot how to do it.

I have had characters that did it before and never had a problem with it. Now I have Nord with S&S and my blocking skill is over 50 and I have many of the perks. But I can't seem to bash anything. When I'm standing toe to toe with someone in melee I click my block button and ... my shield goes up ... and I block. I thought I was supposed to be bashing them. I did get the slow-mo once while doing this (from the perk), but it seemed kind of pointless since all I could do is watch the guy slowly whack me with his sword. Is slow-mo supposed to help in some way?

I know bashing works as I see my companion do it all the time, but dang I've having a terrible time with it and finally decided that there must be some other button other than the block button to click (I'm on the PC).

So am I missing a button or is there some trick to get a bash in? Or is this another 1.4 patch bug?

Hold block, hit attack to bash.

Tried re-equipping your shield or trying a different one? Or using just a sword or 2H weapon to block? Think I had something like this for a bit but then it sorted itself out. I had problems with the Quick Reflexes perk though as the slow-time effect would last for about 10 minutes.
