You should also try out the super sledge or the chainsaw.

You can find super sledges from the super mutants at black mountain, and you can find a chain saw from the named Fiend at Vault 3 ( In New Vegas Steel ).

Also try Knock Knock, in Camp Searchlight. One of the best melee weapons, augmented by low AP costs (21 per attack) and access to the usual 2 handed "Mauler". In fact, it only has 4 less damage than the Super Sledge, at the benefit of higher DPS (14) and 55% of the AP cost.

The thermic lance is better than the super sledge or chainsaw; and it uses chainsaw parts for repairs.

The various unnamed Centurions are set to carry Super Sledges and Thermic Lances. They vary from level 10 to 33, but are all set to a faction that mentions Hoover Dam, unlike other Legionnaires who are set to CL. So I'm guessing you can only find them in the game's final battle.

are you sure about this?

My "oh Baby"(super sledge) kills stuff slightly faster than my Thermic Lance and has the added bonus of pushing enemies back, knocking them down, and huge 1 shot crits.

Ofcourse none of this is considering Vats.

Going by G.E.C.K. values, the Super Sledge is significantly better. Thermic Lance puts out 100 DPS without any real form of burst, 0x crit multiplier and is absolutely garbage in VATS (65 AP, 75 for Scrap Heap which does 25% extra damage).

But the Super Sledge pales in comparison to the Knock Knock, and its unique variant, "Oh, Baby!" isn't much better.

I'll vouch for Knock Knock! It just plain tears through anything in its path!

Keep checking the stats.
Knock Knock
DMG 65
DPS 125
Crit Chancex1
Crit DMG 33

Oh Baby!
DMG 100
DPS 138
Crit Chancex1
Crit DMG 40

How is Knock Knock better then a weapon?
