Shol

Post » Thu May 31, 2012 5:21 pm

I've finished the main quest.
Paarthurnax gave me the first word in fire breath. I learned the other one at some word wall..

Now how do I get the third word? Paarthurnax is gone...

????

This is really annoying... And seems to be the ONLY shout learned in this annoying three part way.. -rme-

Thanks -s-

The third one is only available during the compagnon questline, sadly :shakehead:

Actually all of the shouts are broken down into 3 separate words... Hunting around Skyrim for them is annoying to some people, but I actually enjoy it :P

A quick look at the UESP.net reveals that http://uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Sunderstone_Gorge is the place you should go to get the Fire wordwall. There is a Companion's Radiant quest associated with it, but not essential to entering. Also, check http://uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Dustman%27s_Cairn for the other word wall, which as pointed out won't let you any farther in than the first room.

Actually, just about all shouts are learned in 3 sttages. You learn shouts like whirlwind sprint, clear skies, and dragonrend all at once, but that is only because it is being taught to you. There are tons of shouts out there. You are only "given" around ~4 approx.

I'm a bit annoyed at how few I have. I have 8 surplus dragon souls saved up hoping to find another word. Hunting is ok but I'm hunting blindly. I have no idea where to look.

The fella from the greybeards (sorry, cant remember his name off the top of my head) will point out locations to you if you ask him.

Angier is his name I think and yeah he'll point them all out for you, also I've heard that using a shout around people, in town it will trigger one of the "find the source of power" letters that you receive

Oh, I'll try to shout in a town. I did get ONE of those letters but sure don't remember shouting in town though.

Any one know what happens with Fire Breath, if say during getting the first word from the wall beside Paarthurnax you UNLOCK the first word before he gives you 'his understanding' then once he does, it unlocks the second word. Since there are another 2 words on walls out there, can it go to 4.. lol Almost definitely not but you never know if it will break the shout?

You can shout just about anywhere and get one of those letters. I got one for shouting at a dragon at Mount Anthor (didn't hit him with the shout, and since I was sneaking he never fully engaged me). So those letters might be on some kind of a timer (basically can't keep shouting in hopes of receiving 15 letters). Whiterun seems to be the best place to get a shout recognized. Just be careful which shout you use, don't want to hurt any of the natives . You'll know you did a good job at it when one of the guards walks up and tells you to stop the shouting.

Spoiler
Also, the Throw Voice shout is another one that you learn all 3 parts at the same wall. It's also the only shout that the cooldown timer gets shorter from the 1st word to the 3rd word. Possibly the funniest shout too.

I got one for using a shout in the courtyard of high hrothgar. Apparently the greybeards were upset at people using the voice

I haven't ever shouted in town due to not wishing to hurt anybody and also not really seeing the need. Maybe that spoiler shout will result in an interesting result.

Hey skeever butt!

I've gotten those letters for shouting in a cleared dungeon and for shouting in my own home. Clearly, Lydia is the one sending them, since she was the only other living person nearby in both places. And there's a great many shouts that are non-offensive in nature. I like Aura Whisper, Whirlwind Sprint, and Throw Voice in towns.

If you shout in a town a courier will come with a letter from a friend and the location of a word.
Found almost every word like that.

I tried a shout in Windrun near the Companions house. A guard told me to shut up. I never got a courier at least so far after three radiant Companion quests and now off on number 4.
