1 cop confirmed dead shot at Cassel Colliseum, 1 shot dead at Cage Parking Lot, Suspect has not been caught as of 3:16.

Hasn't that poor university suffered enough? I mean, the big shooting in 2007, now MORE shootings?

Thoughts out to those who suffered, hope they catch the gunmen alive for some justice-bringing.

I'm only 2 hours from Blacksburg and a lot of my friends go to VT. My prayers go out to everyone there.

Whoever did it is going to get whats coming, just you wait.

I hope it involves losing both knees, and gunshot to the chest and then life in prison.

Hope so i'm so sick of this lawyer BS anymore where these horrific actions are justified because someone had "Traumatic experience" as a child.

Definitely hope everyone is alright and my thoughts go out to the loved ones of the deceased.

Or they will just blow their own brains out like most seem too. I just wish they did it before killing anyone.

Unfortunate that wasn't the case for this day, I hope they never get the chance and actually suffer for their actions, no matter what brought this on.

You know how 90+ percent of the people who read about this with first think of vengeance? I didn't (because I'm hip like that, man). What I wondered, instead, was, "What are they doing wrong, why are people reaching the point of suffering/screwed-up-ness that they start with the shooting?".

Sure, this guy needs to stop, and he is responsible for what he did, but when things start repeating themselves you have to have a thorough look at the causes so that you can do a better job of stopping it before it happens again.

Yes, bullying is terrible.

There are many social injustices in this world.

But what's done is done, and justice must be delivered.

People need to understand that all the things that drive people to do this, all the things that happened to them, none of it has to do with society, it has to do with humanity.

Its like when people say x religion and its faithful are ignorant, no, humans are ignorant.

The thing is, the USA* has had about as many knowing school shootings as the rest of the 'Western' world combined. To me that says the problem is not simply that humans are humans, there's failures somewhere in the support, mental health services, or suchlike. Possibly culture and all that, too, but I'll leave that dog to people who have a few months to spare. As far as I'm aware, it's currently unknown whether the shooter actually had anything to do with the uni at all, so it may have been just a drug dealer or something, but but that doesn't change my initial reaction to the thread title .

*I'm not keen on shifting discussion to the country as a whole, for fear of inciting country bashing, but it's kinda unavoidable to at least mention it :(.

EDIT: To summarise: "Bullying svcks " doesn't cut it when it's a reoccurring major problem. I'm pragmatic enough to accept that certain things will always happen eventually, but that doesn't excuse lack of action. Better identification of at risk individuals and better (more accessible, higher quality, fixing wahtever is lacking) treatment would go a long way, I believe. Especially combined with a reduction in the stigma associated with taking care of one's health when it happens to be mental.

Or maybe it's the fact that guns are about 100x easier to get in America than they are in the rest of the 'Western' world.

You know, just saying. Maybe there wouldn't be so many shootings if less people could get guns.

Not really, people kill eachother over stupid [censored] regularly

http://news.sky.com/home/uk-news/article/15253435
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-wales-south-east-wales-14528430 (breaking up would be illogical)

Try as hard as you want, but people will still kill for stupid reasons, hell I remember hearing someone talk about killing randoms if they were going to die or something along those lines. People are just [censored] up, remove a reason they will find new one.

Good Lord! Again? I can only pray for safety for those still under lock down. And those poor victims and their families. I wonder if the shooter was actually planning something bigger but the traffic stop changed the scenario?

Guns are tools though, besides people will kill people no matter what they'll find a way, guns just make it easier.

No guns are more like golf clubs, they can be used for killing, and sport.

Only the sport is also killing, in that case small or large animals.

Or maybe you mean the sport of practicing killing, where you shoot targets so you make sure you don't miss the live target.

It's not like a knife, that has 1000 uses and only one of them that happens to be killing. It's only purpose since inception and forever has been to propel a small piece of metal fast enough to cause damage to a living thing.

Flare gun
Tranq gun
Gun used to start races...

You can kill with hands, or if you do some fightting sport e.g boxing, learn how to punch to make killing easier. I can do it too.

Sports with guns like paintball, my friends went in knowing nothing and came out as hitmen.
