Should I buy Fallout: New Vegas

Post » Wed May 11, 2011 3:06 am

Hey everyone,

Well as far as New Vegas goes, I've heard really good things and really bad things about it. The really bad things mainly being the bugs/crashes. I really enjoyed Fallout 3 and ended up playing through it once but I never touched it again. I new bought any of the expansions for it either. Nevertheless, I thoroughly enjoyed it.

So first question is: is it worth buying? Second question is: Should I buy it for the PS3 or the 360? Maybe give some reason why it's still worth buying even though the game is so buggy and crashes? Or is the whole bug/crashing thing an exaggeration, etc.?

Thanks,

Rob

It's very worth buying. I am still enjoying it too the fullest. Plus, 100+ hours of gameplay. Don't let angry game players tell you otherwise.
For systems, hmm... I've been hearing the 360 is VERY glitchy.
I have the PS3 Version, and I have had only a few quest related bugs.

I suggest PS3 from my experience, let other forum members inform you of other things though.

I have a pretty modular answer:

-I love the game.

-If you loved Fallout 3 for the gameplay, you'll likely love Fallout: New Vegas (many improvements were made).

-If you loved Fallout 3 for the random running around and looting everything that isn't nailed down, you might love Fallout: New Vegas.

-I play on the Xbox 360 and I have had barely any problems (it's frozen a couple times and one save was corrupted after the game froze while the game was saving).

-I would suggest the Xbox 360 because it's what I know. You can jump into playing immediately after putting the disk in opposed to the PS3 where you have to install the game. However, if you are presented the option (which you indicated you weren't) get the game for the PC.

On the other hand, i have it for the xbox and i don't have very many glitches. Also if you get it for the xbox you can get the dlc earlier

I just say what I've been reading. Seems most of the people with the glitches are the Xbox 360 players from my point of view. I guess some people are just really unlucky.

Let's establish this now before it becomes a console war:

Xbox 360

- Is part of Microsoft so you'll likely get DLC and patches sooner.

Playstation 3

- Better hardware (yes, it's true).

Both have their faults but they have their advantages as well. For the sake of not invoking the Hand of Mod, let's just drop this particular section :)

I vote for Xbox on this buddy (yes very worth buying) along with that Microsoft tends to have better costumer service regarding things like this (yes its true, Sony has crap ass support)

Either way it's the same game, but Xbox has the DLC's and Patches faster (as said before)

the game has glitches, that's a con, but the good spots way outshine that.

A minority is experiencing heavy bugs, glitches and crashes.
For me it works fine.
Some small bugs here and there but nothing game-breaking.

PS3 has a little less glitches from what I hear and better load times.
360 gets the DLC first.

I'd go with 360...

Huh? Microsoft is the pinnacle of capitalist greed and scum-baggery...

- Xbox 360 has a lot more Corrupted data errors than PS3... If you are a person who doesnt save frequently lean towards the PS3

- Xbox 360 get DLC earlier which, as a PS3 owner, I dont really care how late I get it...

- PS3 has more crashes but almost never has corrupted data.

- PS3 owners will save either $5 or $10 for the DLC because we do not pay a monthly fee...

Overall, If you save regularly and desperately need DLC a month earlier than get it for 360, but performance wise go with the PS3... Hope this help a lil' bit :frog:

I have it on PS3 and when it first came out I had lots of crashing problems but lately I have had very little problems while playing. From what I understand the only major difference between consoles is that you get patches and DLC earlier and if you're paying for XBOX LIVE already you might as well take advantage of it and get a 360 copy. Performance wise I hear both have the same pros and cons so it doesn't really matter.

Should I buy Fallout: New Vegas

Yes, but only if the PC version is not an option.
*All versions will be patched in time, and it will be what they intended ~which is a game like few others. *Not one to miss.

Do the Xbox360 version....

There is still bugs on it, but a workaround is installing the game data on your Xbox360's hard drive...

Any game can have that done... When you put a game in the Xbox360 > Press Y/ The yellow button > Then hit: Install Game...
THat will install the game data to the hard drive of the Xbox...

That will not fix all the bugs but will make it run a little bit more smoothly...

Another quick fix is that will minimise some other lockups -- Is turning the Kill cam off in the game Options...

Go to game options >> Click Display >> Then turn Kill Cam off... This works on the PS3, Xbox & PC version... It will not fix all the lockups entirely but will help it from locking up.

Many people I know are waiting for the Expansion to come out or Gold edition to come out... The version that has the game & all of the expansions on it.

Well I had the PS3 ver. but sold it because I thought it was very glitchy only to find out later that my PS3 was dying bummer but I managed to get the 360 version and had a few glitches and about two lock ups but its fine I haven't had any quests glitched on me so everything is swell. I just rebought the PS3 version because that's how much I like the game and wanted to see how well it handled.
