I was considering buying this game, but based on my bad experience with fallout 3, i thought i would ask here before buying it.

Are there similar problems with this game and fallout 3?

Are there any major lag, framerate, etc. issues?

If the problems are half as bad i won't even consider buying it.

Well, I dunno how it is on the PS3 now but with the latest patch and Dead Money installed I've experienced an increase in freezes on my 360 version.
But yeah, ignoring the bugs it's a fantastic game and I think you should buy it despite it's flaws. (Which will likely get patched.)

I think it's a great game, and if you can find it cheap and have the extra money to spare, give it a try. Everyone has different experiences with it.

Personally, I have had more freezes and bugs/glitches with New Vegas than with Fallout 3, which I recently started playing again. In a little over 20 hours of play(in F3), I had one freeze and a few scripting errors and other random bugs.

With Fallout: New Vegas, on one playthrough I had 5 freezes before I even finished the Sunny Smiles(or whatever her name is. it's been awhile) quest. Not to mention numerous scripting errors and bugs/glitches. I was able to complete 2 & a 1/2 playthroughs, however, so it isn't like the game is unplayable.

To give you an idea of the amount of people having problems, just look around on the web. I even started a thread back in...December?... that's got well over 7,000 views, and it's just tips to help keep the game from freezing. Should be on the first page of this sub-forum.

Rent it or something, at least. That way you'll know for sure what it's like. Be warned, though: Just because it seems fine at first doesn't mean your save can't go corrupt later on. I had two saves do that to me after getting a decently large save file. Never had that with F3.

I would agree with the "If you can find it cheap" viewpoint as far as buying it. I paid retail for it and I feel very very ripped off for what I got, It is a great game deep down, it just isn't a finished product..... now if it was $30 or something I would be amazed at the value, despite the constant issues. For example I bought Fallout 3: Game of the Year Edition for $30 and I had no complaints, even though it did quite often freeze my PS3 and more than 5 quests had glitched and were left unplayable I didn't once come online to investigate, and I didn't join this forum to voice my frustration back then, didn't even go to Bethesdas website. It was great for a $30 game, and if I looked at it in that light I felt comfortable with what I got.

I think I am going to sell my copy on ebay now while the buying price is high and pick it back up in a year or so when its $20 on amazon.

Don't bother unless someone gives you a 100% rebate.

Even if you do get it for free, I suggest you get acquainted with wikia's Fallout NV wiki. Otherwise you'll end up with a game with several broken quests and a general storyline that makes no sense whatsoever.

I would say rent it first. See if you like it. You dont wana get stuck with a game you dont like.

If you can make it to Novac without freezing (my experience) then you should keep the game.

do not buy this game. its 6 months post release and it still unplayable. burn your money before you give it to these fools

It depends on what kind of PS3 you have.

If you have one of the 40GB or 80GB outdated PS3's, then expect a [censored]storm.

However, if you have one of the newer slim versions, 250GB, 160GB, etc. Then it is quite playable. However after about 7 hours straight of playing it will occasionally crash.

I strongly recommend it if you have the system for it, and if you enjoyed Fallout 3.

Right now Id say no don t buy it, because its really bad at 8500kb of info. It was bad on 360 too......... They have some new patch cominb out that might fix these problems. I d wait for feedback from that. Probably [censored] that should have been done in the first place.

Now fo3 on 360 wasn t too bad, but I didn t play fo3 on ps3 so I don t know how bad it was.

I played just over 500hrs on Fallout 3 and New Vegas so far just a little over 300hrs. Do I like the game? Are you kidding me I not only check all locations I check the locations that don't show on the map as well and pick-up every single item there is to be taken. From tin cans to empty bottles of sunset sarsaparilla(still don't know how to spell this thing). My opnion is don't even get close to this game if you don't have to. I'm a lost case, been addicted to this game for me it's the best game because it suits me and my addiction. Stay away from Fallout if you never played it before don't lose your money and more important your time on this game. Fallout 3 was bad, when they launched the patches the game became pretty much what New vegas is today a broken game if we can call this a game. Bethesda might have my money, damn I happily paid 60 bucks for it when it came out and would pay again even knowing how crappy this game is. I already bought the Dead Money patch and I'm 100% sure I'll buy the coming others as well. They have my money, but they sure won't have my recommendation for anyone to buy this game ever ever if these freezes and bugs keep on coming in future Fallout. Shame Bethesda to see how you treat your fidel customers, real shame.

My main problem with FONV (there are others, but this is the biggest problem) is the way that the game degrades the longer you play it. My save was crash free up until level 15, after which point crashes began to occur and increased in frequency with more play time. If you rush through the main story and ignore side quests this may not be a problem but I've given up on the game until there's some kind of magical patch that fixes the frequent crashes my game experiences.

As I say, there are other problems with the game (quests breaking, framerate drops/freezes, etc,) but that is the only one that has stopped me actually playing the game. It's never a good sign when you spend more time waiting at loading screens and rebooting your console than actually playing.

I have a 8 month old 250gb slim PS3 and it still freezes every 20 mins or so. doesn't matter how long its been on, sometimes it freezes in the first 10 minutes! The game is a [censored] joke

Some people may still have problems but patches have come out and another one is to come soon before the next DC.

I'm so fervently and royally pissed at NV about the freezes I decided to PM you just to make sure you didn't buy the game.

Until Bethesda gets a working patch out I'm telling every soul I come across here or otherwise to not buy.

The patches will probably not fix the freezing problem. So, if you don't mind hard resetting your ps3 every time the game freezes, then go for it Personally, I wouldn't buy it.

Now that I ve done some testing since this patch came out, I now give The Rook approval to buy the game. It acts like fo3 now, where before this patch it was much much worse.

I didn t think fo3 was really that bad for as extensive as these games are. So if you could handle fo3 s bugs, nv has been fixed to that level.
