well i have the chance to buy new vegas tomorow and i have heard mixed reviews...

if you loved fallout 3 you'll love new vegas. (i did LOVE fallout 3)
its really fun with a great story.
the side quest are just as good as the main storyline
its everything from fallout 3 plus more.

its extremely buggy.
the loading time is awfully slow.
it just doesn't work on consoles because it freezes and you have to restart your console.

I played for about 20 hours so far, and I couldn't connect with the story the way I did with Fallout 3.

Probably because I just don't feel emotional investment over being robbed and almost killed vs the entire fiasco of a vault riot and thrown in to a strange wilderness.

Overall the game isn't a bad game, but it is not as good as fallout 3.

bugs or not it is still a good game, and they are working to fix the issues it currently has. Any bugs I have come along so far do not ruin the play experience and just tend to get annoying. I have it for Xbox and PC and have had very little problems, most of the [censored] you see on the boards are kids [censored]ing on the internet like every other day.

If I were you I would wait till the game reaches a decent state...do not rush and buy it now, trust me. You would only get frustrated and would ruin the whole experience since I believe the game could be awesome once the bugs/freezes are hopefully ironed out.

Plus I would suggest to get it on PC since it will probably be more supported by the community with mods and such, like Fallout 3...with the consoles once you find a bug...you keep it

For sure,Its buggy right now but that is basically its only downfall.Even in the bug case its just depends on the luck of the draw.I haven't really had any major problems.

Bottom line:If you don't want to other with bugs just wait a month or so and by then most major bugs will be patched.

Summary:
Fallout New Vegas requires steam. So the answer depends on whether you care about having steam or not on your PC. Personnally I hate Steam and I'm now obliged to have it.
Secondly, I can't install the game, because Steam decided the game is not released yet. Although it was on the shelves in the shop and in my Dvd drive at the moment.
I see other people could play it. So why is it released on Steam in some regions and not mine (Europe/Belgium). Hey Steam is internet ... internet is the same all over the world, isn't it ?

Had I known that in advance, no matter how good the game is, I would have left it on the shelf of the shop.

if you do not get this game it is your loss. i am playing on Xbox, have not had any serious bugs and am just having a blast. I really suggest you get it, i like it exactly as much, if not more than Fallout 3.

I played through a quick run my first time and got the feeling there was a TON of cool stuff out there to do and that it'll be an amazing game.

Currently, however, there are many game breaking issues for all platforms. You might get lucky and avoid them on a first play through or you might never make it past level one (none of my characters except my first can level up, I have one at 1592/200exp and another at 250/200).

It will be worth a buy if they fix these issues, but right now?

Games have been released way more buggy than new vegas and hailed as the second coming of the messiah... If you enjoyed fallout 3 and/or oblivion and don't mind a few glitches yeah sure buy it.

If you liked fallout 1 and 2 you'll love fallout NV for feeling like a fallout game rather than oblivion with guns that fallout 3 was.

but do not buy a digital download from steam, those are the people having bug issues.

Either buy it for console to have no issues or if you only have a pc buy a box copy.

it just seams like there are a lot of bugs, but really people just complain a lot, and that will be fixed with a patch, and it seams like they are keeping a lot from fallout, so yeh you will probably like it, also if bethesda doesn't come out with a patch, then I am sure there will be unoffical patches available after some time

Yes, but wait for the patch to drop. It seems that the patch is coming sooner rather than later. Would just hate for someone to get far, then get a game ruining bug like I have had.

What you should do is come on the forums of the game you are thinking of getting and ask a bunch of people who already bought the game if you should buy the game. Super.

FYI the boxed copy and the digital download from Steam is identical. Except for the price, the boxed copy will probably be cheaper.

I would say it depends on the platform... If you choose PC, Steam will update it rather a lot I'd expect in the coming weeks, and the PC console can alleviate some of the bugs in the short term, until they are corrected. FO:NV will only get better as the days pass. I do not know the routine for console patches, or the turn-around time for pushing them out to consumers. I would assume that they take longer; and the consoles do not include the Command-Console to help bypass some situations.

From what I've seen, the game is a dirty diamond, they just need time to polish it up ~and I'm sure that they will.

Once the bugs are ironed out I suspect it will be a classic.

I like the gameplay, so far, better than FO3.

Shame about the Steam crapping it up though...
