Because you can't get resting bonuses and lovers comfort, and it's useless.

Cons: You can't get Rested, Well-Rested, or Lover's Comfort; you may become a Daedric Prince's plaything in the afterlife
Pros: You're immune to Vampirism and between 85%-100% (people argue it) immune to all other diseases; you can kill the 'innocent' without it being tallied as a "Murder" in your stats; you can also travel very fast. :P

Your soul will be carried kicking and screaming to hircine's hunting grounds when you die where it'll be hunted like the doubting fool you are to even be questioning this gift... ;)

Embrace the hunt.

One character I cured it as soon as I could. I was like, eww Werewolf. Another character, I was more used to the idea of werewolf and I stayed werewolf the whole playthrough. I mostly liked it for disease immunity, which is very annoying in the beginning of the game for me. And not having sleep bonus made me worry less about optimizing my progress rate and it was more liberating and I honestly couldn't tell the difference. I even stopped using guardian stones in favor of Lord Stone. I never used the werewolf transformation.

To add a little more:
Con: During the Deadric Quest: Ill met by Moonlight, the Cursed Ring of Hircine will make you randomly transform when outside.
Pro: If you choose to help Sinding in that quest, it lifts the curse on the ring and you get an second werewolf transformation each day.

Playing as a werewolf means you need to specialize in One-Handed and Light Armor it seems.

Might as well keep it, only real con is no lovers comfort or sleeping buffs. And even after you cure your lycanthropy you still can't get these buffs thanks to a bug, unless Beth fixed it by now.

I think it is fixed. It just doesn't say it on the screen, but it is there if you check the active effects menu.

Right, that's true.

OP: I cured mine mostly for story reasons and because I didn't use werewolf form a lot. I do think it's fun and useful, though- nothing like tearing through a vampire dungeon in wolf form, though you have to use the extra powers and feed to get the most out of it.

In Bethesda version the werewolf is essentially useless but if you download and install a mod:http://Werewolf%20Upgradehttp://skyrim.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=5866 being of a werewolf becomes more enjoyable, and hell of lot better. Also other werewolves and wolves no longer attacks you, as it should be.

You can also feed on other corpses... not just humans.

This. I found it really cool and wanted to use it, but whenever I tried, I got killed very, very quickly.

Yes because vampires are cooler with their imortality!

Lyncanthropy is pretty pathetic but disease immunity and being able to travel faster are far better than the well rested bonus you miss out on. (In my opinion at least) The rested bonus only really comes in handy if you're grinding.

my opinion, keeping/curing Lycantropy is more of a RP choice, so it is up to the person.

I've created some corpses and ash piles that may disprove that theory. :P

Like many others have mentioned it's awsome to be imune to other diseases and im eaven gonna be bold enough to say it has no weaknesses like vampirism do. Sure when I transform my orc with legendary deadric armor to a werewolf he dies faster without the armor when you are facing many opponents. How ever you get more speed and the amzing (dont know its real name) b.tch slap move wich knocks back your opponents (eaven giants) enabling you to slap them to death before getting up. You also get a health bonus as a werewolf and with a good amount of stamina you can bring alot of chaos and do alot of damage.
Me personally I like to bring out the wolf in me from time to time just because its fun to enter a cave full of bandits or forsworn and just slaughter them all in a more cooler way.
And who needs the resting bonus anyways!?

Unfortunately once you reach level 4 it's extremely difficult to do quests therefor I rather be a weak (without the mod that I mention above) werewolf then to struggle to do quests, and having to depend on svcking blood from people while their sleeping to keep your level low to the point where people are none hostile towards you.

it's useless.

Aside from these passive perks:
  • Max health and stamina increases by 100 (when in wolf form)
  • Very fast sprint for long extended runs, faster than horses (wolf form)
  • 100% disease resistance (human and wolf)
  • Bounties don't carry over to human from wolf form

It allows unlimited transformations. You do need to re-equip it each time, but there's no use limit.

Cool, so after you re-equip it you can transform again? :)

That's exactly what it does. You have to reequip both it and the power "Ring of Hircine" in the Powers menu. Then you press the Powers/Shouts button and you're good to go.
