Should I get Dragon Age: Origins on the PC?

Post » Wed Jun 22, 2011 7:01 am

Here's the thing, I actually already have it for the 360, but I've never gotten around to finishing it beyond Ostagar. I played the second game's demo on the PC and I'm MUCH more impressed with it. So my question is...

Should I get Dragon Age: Origins for the PC? Is it much better than the 360 version?

Thanks.

I was actually curious about this too. I also have it on 360, and have finished it. I was thinking about mods. Are there many out there?

It's a completely different game on the PC, IMO. Significantly harder, much more strategy-oriented combat.

The PC version of Dragon Age: Origins is far and away better than the console version. The camera, interface, and controls are superior in every way; you can have more talents and spells hotkeyed, pull out for a more aerial view, and use point-and-click controls as well as highlight multiple characters at once (so you can effectively control several characters simultaneously if you so choose and better position them around the battlefield). It's also more well-balanced...the console version was dumbed down to compensate for the piss-poor controls; needless to say, Normal mode on console is equivalent to Easy mode for PC. Looks much better too, if your computer's up to snuff.

As for mods, well, http://www.dragonagenexus.com/ There are various rebalancers, equipment mods, body replacers, and a few quest mods (I know a couple worth checking out). It's not as extensive as TES's, but that's only natural considering how much younger it is.

Nevermind my opinions on the actual game, but the thought of somebody liking that terrible, terrible demo...

Yes Origins is superior on the PC, it's more strategy and easier to use then the console version, not to mention the fact that you'll get access to mods and there are some good ones.

I am 12 and what is this.

Huh, if you are 12, how are you allowed on the forums? I thought you had to be over 13 to join the fourms?

Yes. I've played it on both, and it's much better on PC.

Great game too. Ostagar is just the beginning... :D

As for Dragon Age 2, I never played but a lot of people (in the PC community) don't like it. I think it may be a bad port or something, but I've heard story and whatnot are bad too.

And how much less you can do when it's a relatively linear game.

No house mods or anything.

Dragon Age: Origins was initially developed as a PC exclusive that was later ported to the consoles. The general consensus is that the PC version is vastly superior to the console versions. Besides, several great mods have been released that make it an even better experience. Oh, and I can't believe that you really liked Dragon Age II, especially that horrible demo.

Nah it's not a bad port, still plays and looks better on PC.

Dragon Age II was alright in my eyes. I think people react overly negative to it because it's really not as good as Origins, however overall it's a solid RPG. Personally even enjoyed it more than Witcher 2.

I wouldn't worry about that. Mods know quite a few of the pointless spam replies that pop up.

And have, in the past, suspended people's accounts that used that one until they had a chance to explain to an admin that they were basically spamming, which leads to a different line in the rules.

On topic- yes, it would be worth getting Origins for the pc.

I have both DA O and DA II for PC. They're much better than the consoles versions (partially due to mods no doubt :) ). So yes you should get them.
