Should Skyrim be in Program Files (x86)?

Post » Fri Jul 20, 2012 2:07 am

I have 64-bit windows, but Steam and therefore Skyrim are in my (x86) folder. The exact destination is C: -> Program Files (x86) -> Steam -> steamapps -> common -> skyrim

Is this the way it should be?

Yes. It's only an issue if you have UAC enabled.

Shouldn't be an issue I think, seeing Skyrim doesn't save anything where it's installed but in "My Documents", but I have Steam installed at C:\Steam, and therefore my Skyrim is in C:\Steam\steamapps\common\skyrim. Which I think is nicer.

Ok I think UAC means User Account Control, so I need to turn this off for Skyrim to run properly?

No, I have it on and have had no problems at all.

UAC may cause issues with mods, but not otherwise.
