Should they Give all the Outpost Buffs to the Operative?

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 3:48 am

The operative doesn't feel that good, yes you need one for a few objectives, but knowing where people are doesn't exactly help all that much

The engineer has a huge amount of things to do as is, I think the operative should take the double buff effect.

I think it would give operatives a clear niche and getting behind enemy lines to take outposts seems like a decent role

I would like to give the Operative the speed buff to be honest. Operatives NEED something that is really good, as all they really have are very tiny support roles that rely on the use of disguise (which is a terrible ability).

ya I think disguise needs to be a lot faster, if you find a corpse, that corpse is either A. in the normal path for enemies to walk, or B. the backwaters, but still you're in the way to something, not something you want to be out in the open for, after you've been in a fight(unless you luck out and find someone already dead).

I disagree with all of you.

I play Operative, and I love it (so far only on PS3 against bots, though).

Operatives aren't going to take the primary objectives much, it's true.

You're not meant to be the one in the spotlight who everyone looks to as the hero - you're the guy who makes sure the heroes can get their jobs done. I don't mind dying with no kills... if my team comes around the corner and finds the enemy still wondering WTF just happened.

Only ability another class gets which I think would suit the Operative is the Flashbang.

Even with just the basic Op kit, I enjoy the chaos I can cause in an enemy team. As a Light, I can dash past, fire a couple of bursts of fire, and draw ALL their attention to me, throw a frag around the corner - anyone who's too distracted to evade gets knocked down, and those who don't are scattered and confused, and facing the wrong way when 3 - 4 of my teammates round the corner heading my way. I jump out right before they open first, and start blazing away, and the enemies will have to pause for a second to work out where all the damage is coming from - the bots are pretty single-minded when they're after someone evasive, and I know from experience that players often do the same thing - you get their attention, then hold onto it long enough for your friends to take them down.

I can single-handedly blunt an enemy offensive using a Light Operative with Disguise, Stickies, and my trusty Galactic SMG. That's all it takes to do my job.

Make yourself the priority target, then don't let them hit you. Taking someone out is an added bonus, but not as critical as getting (and holding) their attention when your teammates are about to turn the corner.

They should give landmines to the operatives.

Giving the operative a speed buff would make sense. Why does the medic have it? They get 175 points per successful revive... However, thats just to make the operative more of a team friendly char, rather then just [censored] the hell out of the enemy type guy. But trust me, learn to play them. I'm consistently making top scores with my operative. Not long ago i got 9000 points in an online campaign match, making top score with out ever switching. Theyre a very aggressive char, and need to be treated as such.

Pro Tips...

Kill the [censored] out of things,

Disguise WHENEVER you reasonably can

Hack turrets. it really svcks for the enemy.

Spot mines whenever you see them

Use disguise effectively, get into enemy camps, behind their line, rush some one and melee, sneak into command posts and steal them... Get it?

use those sticky grenades when you can

CALTROPS!!! FREAKIN USE EM!!! Place them where the enemy will be buzzing around like bees. A good land can net 5-700 xp... At least 100 if you did marginally alright...

Be aggressive when it comes to your objectives. Trust your team and just hack as best you can, but open fire if your in direct danger non the less...

Your objectives are particularly hard. Not only do they take forever, but they can be reversed, slowed, and even undone... Rely on your allies, and pray if your in SP that they actually do their job...

Understand the concept of the operative, what their mission is. They make the enemies lives considerably more difficult. One or two that are actively going in will shread an otherwise cohesive enemy line, and throw it into general disarray. I'd go as far as to say that, in a well setup match with intelligent players, the team with the most effective operatives will likely be the team that wins. Thats how much they effect the tide of battle...

I was definitely thinking that operative needs a buff. I also think they should be able to take Outposts quicker. They're supposed to be good hackers and able to get in and steal things quickly right? I wouldn't mind seeing they get the Outpost upgrade, but it could be conflicting with their ability to already add a Firewall. Also why do they not get a faster hack ability? The engineer gets faster construction and explosive disarming afterall.

I agree that something should be done to them because as of right now the only time i have played as them is when no one on my team is them and we need an objective hacked, other than that i dont see the point of the character they cant directly help out there team other than spotting people but i mean if you are spotting them you might as well be shooting them. Maybe they could upgrade weapons with silencers of some sort that doesnt affect weapon damage i have no clue but not being able to buff your teammates really kills the idea of me playing as operative but please dont take the flashbang away from my soldier :)

After this bit, which I think is silly, you made up for it thoroughly.

Read the rest of this guy's post, he knows what he's talking about.

Operatives are AWESOME when done right, and can be a critical concern if played well.

Lol thanks. I was just sayin though, that if the operatives HAD a buff (which i find it kinda unfortunate they dont), it should be the speed buff...
