Should I be upset?

So I went to explore my first Dwemer ruins dungeon today since Morrowind and I was very disappointed. In Morrowind everything was so industrial and spooky with all the clanking and what not. When I went to explore today, I saw a little bit of metal with a lot of stone, so my disappointment begins...

To enter this place, I first found a group of bandits, whom I could dispatch with ease. Okay, bandits, there's something new, but I thought "Why not keep exploring?" so I did.
After killing all the bandits I finally hit some automatons left by the Dwemer who were difficult to kill, but being as awesome as I am, I had little trouble. I go through a loading door and what do I find next? FALMER!!!! Why are there Falmer? It just felt like they were so out of place and the environment reminded me nothing of the ruins of a highly advanced industrial civilization. It felt like I was in a little stone village surrounding an underground well with the Falmer. I almost completely forgot I was in Dwemer ruins. After killing all these buggers I enter another area which brings me eventually to a Centurion, who I needed to run from because his steam one hit me. He was cool but I guess my main issues are these...

-Bandits -> Dwemer Automatons -> Falmer -> Dwemer Automatons
-Dungeons remind me of Fort Ruins with slight technological add-ons

It just didn't remind me of the ruins I had loved so much in Morrwind, should I be upset about this?

I hate to bash Bethesda for this but why did they change it so much?

(If you know of the ruins I am talking about exactly, I DO know the story behind them. I found the journal.)

You could be upset, but I don't see why you would be.

Is that the only Dwemer Ruin you have been in?

Because, from my P.O.V.... Dwemer Dungeons are probably the best dungeons in TES I have ever seen. One in particular.

Unless levitation and athletics is your thing.

In which case.... soz.

Falmer have good reason to be in Dwemer ruins. Read some of the lore and you'll find out who the Falmer actually are and why they're in all Dwemer ruins. I like them, though some of them are pretty massive. I like the idea of machines powered by magic. Cool.

The few Dwemer ruins I've been in so far are huge and sprawling, and a lot of fun to explore. Although nothing will compare to exploring Arkngthand for the first time.

I guess I'm clinging on to that idea too much.

Black Reach is a good Dwemer ruin, but in all of them I've explored so far you will fight the Falmer. It's like a layer of enemies just outside of the ruin and just inside there are usually bandits, the some spiders and spheres, then Falmer and Charous, then maybe Centurions which always seem easy to kill.

On a side note:

Why are all the forts in such poor condition?

I believe it's an imperial law that at least 80% of the forts are to be abandoned and run down. :P

I imagine it's difficult to keep up maintenance on a remote outpost, but still I agree. You'd think at least one didn't look like it had been assaulted by a dragon who breathes mold instead of fire

Then that must be the Skyrim law because back in Cyrodil all forts are to be left abandoned and rot.

I think he is upset because the wondrous feeling of exploring Dwemer ruins is well ruined, by constantly running into Falmer. The Falmer weren't in the ruins in MW it was lore breaking lore they added in to justify a rather generic enemy that only really poses a threat at low levels. The design of the ruins have also changed but tbh I want to like exploring Dwemer but constantly running into non automaton enemies is annoying, or I just run into spiders all the damn time.

What I had hoped for was similar to Morrowind with vampires, dwarven ghosts, automatons and everything being metal.
After looking at lore I have a new respect for the Falmer but the Skyrim and Morrowind Dwemer ruins I feel differ tremendously.

I know I'm acting like an obnoxious and spoiled kid and I hate to banter like this, but that is the fact of the matter.

Are you kidding? My first Dwemer ruin got me jumping all around. Thing jumping behind me... strange sounds....

But I would have to agree, Falmer are a bit like the Cliffracers of Skyrim.

Those were the Dwemer ruins in Morrowind. These are the Dwemer ruins in Skyrim. They're different regions of the world, with different climates, weather, and sediment/stone. Just because a particular creature belongs to a 'race' doesn't mean it's going to follow the exact same building technique everywhere it moves. Just look at our world- we're all human beings but as we separated, we created different architecture and explored new ways of doing things.

As far as the Falmer are concerned...the ruins are abandoned. The Falmer and their creatures dig tunnels and create dens for themselves. Why wouldn't they lay claim on what was left behind by others hundreds of years ago? If you've been in a few, you'll see there are tunnels burrowed into the Dwemer holds, most likely by the Falmer.

Well, to be fair, if they were standardized across all regions.... everyone would be saying they all look the same.

'Why is there no originality? Bethesda just copy pasting again...Blah blah blah"

Everyone is entitled to thier opinion though, thankfully, no worries.

I feel like that right now: all Dwemer ruins look the same in Skyrim except for a few. Still, they're much better than the ones in Morrowind.

Well, you could say that I guess.

But I would point out that anytime some uses all, quickly followed by except...

Well you get my drift. :P

I fraking love the Falmer. They're the creepiest things in Skyrim. They have an interesting backstory and are tough foes. Some of my most challenging mob battles were with those pervy, creepo Falmer jerks.

I'm with this. I really like the Falmer, they're a really neat baddie race. They have strange mannerisms and once I learned about their orgins, I really came to love their concept. I also find they added a spice to the Dwemer Ruins.

Falmer aren't in all the ruins although they are in a majority of them. I wouldn't be upset, the Dwemer Ruins are probably the next dungeon type in Skyrim.

Have you seen the condition of Whiterun's fortifications? If they can't even maintain the walls of a hold, what makes you think they can keep the forts in optimal condition?

They haven't been needed in a long time, so they've been pillaged for building materials in other places, and left exposed to the elements. However, I do like how in Skyrim, most of the forts, while indicating various degrees of wear, are still in sufficiently good condition to remain operational.
