I have 5 shouts in my "shouts" pannel, but they are unavailable to use. I killed dragons and absorbed their souls. but it didn't work. I can use three common shouts. the fast running one and the power one and another one!!
I just need to know does it need to kill a specific dragon or a bunch of dragons for each shout?
for example the slow time one. I have had it for a long time but it doesn't work. not available!

Try pressing X if your on xbox square if your on ps3. no idea what to do if your on pc. while looking at the shouts in the menu.

No once you kill the dragons, you can buy the shout upgrade with a dragon soul. Hope this helps.

Spend the souls you absorbed to unlock them, they act as a currency. It should tell you on the screen what button it is, PC it's the R key.

Have you used the souls to unlock the shouts?
It is not enough to simply absorb a soul, you have to manually spend it on a selected shout.
Shouts that are known but have no soul assigned to them are of a darker, greyer colour than shouts known and charged with a soul, which text shows up as white.
