. I just used a .bsa browser to extract the greybeard meditation animation file, then I renamed it to the sneak idle animation. Then ingame I pressed shift and he meditated.

Idle markers are what the level designers at gamesas use to mark spots where the NPCs can do idle animations, like read a book, or sweep the floor, when their AI is in idle mode. I thought you'd found a way to use the marker greybeards use for meditating in that spot.
Beth has apparently changed the animation system for Skyrim, so the PlayIdle console command from the previous games doesn't work anymore. Which means that we'll have to wait for the CK before the player characters can do any acting of their own. Unless you go and change the animation files around, like you did, of course...
