Am i sick or something?

Post » Sun Jun 17, 2012 12:45 am

so i started a new game and everything was awesome until i got back to white run after finishing the first part of the main quest in bleak falls barrow. everyone seems to think i look "ill" and all people ever say to me is "you look worse than i feel" or "are you feeling well?"...
i went and got the blessings of talos cause i knew it would cure any diseases i may have had (though i don't think i had any to begin with)
i was poisoned by that big spider earlier, but unless i'm mistaken, that is a temporary effect... any one else got townspeople concerned about your health 24/7? is there something i'm unaware of here? can i fix it and get "cured" somehow?

It should be cured once you get any kind of blessing but sometime town folks are just being an idiot with their dialouge, nothing to worry about.

well yeah... i learned that from previous elderscrolls titles...(mostly oblivion... morrowind should have been my first wife) but EVERYONE thinks i'm sick 100% of the time... and it bums me out cause i miss hearing bits of lore and information, its one of the touches to the game that make it so intimate and immersive, but its all gone now cause i'm "sick"

Have you gone in to your menu to see if you have a disease? O button - Magic - Active Effects.

I get that some times too, mostly because my character never sleeps. so just taking a nap kind of helps :snoring:

Yeah sometimes if you haven't slept in a while NPC's will say things to the effect of you looking ill. Find a place to rest a bit and they should come up with different things to say.

have you tried a cure disease potion? get one at the store by the general goods store, just to be safe as it's not that expensive.

Keep in mind, some vendors might just be telling you that to get you to buy something. The potions vendor in Whiterun keeps telling me I look sick or might have something, because she's trying to peddle her wares.

I had also noticed that Acadia in Whiterun keeps saying that I look like I have 'Ataxia'. I just looked up what it means, and found this definition:
"The loss of full control of bodily movements".
Based upon this, I now believe it is a joke that has been put in by the developers. Look at how stiff the player is in third person, and then read the definition again. I think it is a jibe at the animation system within the game.

Kudos to the developer who thought of this one! It took me a while to get the joke, but I got there!

Actually, I think that's probably a reference to the fact that someone else is controlling the character's movements. Basically us, the player.

That is clever, and funny.

Use a cure poison potion, a cure disease potion, and sleep for like a day and see if it persists..same thing happened to me and this is how I fixed it.

Yes the potion maker in Whiterun is very fond of the diseased chit chat, Ataxia or Rattles are just generic chat and don't mean you have caught anything.

Not contracted Vampirism or Lycanthropy have you? ;)

yes... i slept for 35 days to remove the bodies and ashpiles in the the dungeon i cleared (the one where you get jurgens horn and find a note instead) i had slept in the bedroll at the bandit camp just outside the dungeon, cause i read you have to revisit the dungeon after waiting outside for 30 days to clean it... suffice to say, when i revisited NOTHING was clean.

no i am not a vamp or wolf (or at least i hope not... i did not buy this to play "Twilight: The Skyrim Edition Pt. II, The Reckoning, Deeper Into The Abyss: The Game)

I will try your "buy cure poison and disease potion, sleep for one day" and weather that works or not i will let you know... either way i might post again about why the heck bodies are not cleaning up... the wife however loves her Zen Pinball so it might be awhile before i can do that... lol...
thanks for the help guys... and... gals? maybe?

It could be ataxia or a touch of the rattles.
