Silencers and Quiet Running vs AIbots?

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 5:01 pm

the object of the silencers and the quiet running skill are to keep you off the radar - however, using a sniper rifle with a silencer i was quite a distance away and after the first shot out i had 3 enemies from across the map shooting at me
was it the AI knowing where the shot came from? or did they all have the combat intuition ability and knew exactly where I was?
suffice i've gone back and removed the silencers from the guns i use
also - was standing in a hallway - AI runs past at the far end - then comes back and starts shooting me; if it was a human they never would have seen me but the AI seems to have a third eye -*- or 6th sense

has anyone else noticed that silencers are useless against bots and all it does is lower you DAM rating?

disguises work fine for me - but as soon as you attempt to do anything (other than walk around) everyone changes their attention to you as if you rang a bell

if you line your sights up on an AI when you're disguised, they'll sometimes turn and start shooting. Also, if one of your teammates is close to you and you're not trying to kill them, the enemy AI will often realise you're disguised and open fire.

I haven't tried silencers yet, opted for increased stability instead.

You can use disguise to get from A to B, and to flag up locations of enemy mines... but do anything agressive towards enemy and your disguise comes off.

Also, if you're located next to members of your own team and they're not shooting you, that'll give you away too.

Sometimes, it seems that way. Other times, I've been crouched in a corner destroying wave after wave of bots that can't figure out where I am.

You should have noticed the blood-on-screen effect when you get shot that points out where the shot came from. Also, combat intuition. Avoid aiming at all the bots at once and focusing on one at a time.

Actually it's hilarious.

I once was disguised, infiltrating the enemy base when all of a sudden I was standing in front of me.

lolwut?

Killed the fu-cker immediatly and got the "Not so sneaky now, are you?" achievement.

I only check my radar when I don't see any enemies around so silencers don't really matter to me........

First... No. Just... Nvm just no...

Disguise is awesome, learn to use it. Second, silences help but its not like they won't figure it out. Also, ever since I got silent runnig, I've been caught almost never while sneaking up or just running around. Also with out silent running, when you flee some AI will Chase you down and take you out. With it, they loose track of you and move on.

It's not invisibility or infinite never be detected by the AI... When you got counter sniper, one of them probably saw you, then the super AI just instantly reacted...

Silences are cool, if you play that way. They still know where there being hit from, but a miss DOES NOT GIVE YOUR POSITION AWAY... Not instantly anyway, if your just svcking it up the AI just kinda finds out where all the stray shots are commin from... Then again, I would too.

Absolute lie. Disguises work extremely well against AI. Even if you disguise right in front of them, they stop firing at you.

The only time the AI will fire at you with you not doing anything to reveal your disguise is when the guy you disguised as sees you.... and even then, only he fires at you.

I have noticed silencers and silent running is purely for veruses, same for disguse. Since the bots seem to play off of the game's AI knowledge of where you are or what you are doing.

Oh, also forgot. I've pulled a disguise off RIGHT IN FRONT of an AI, and he ran up, stopped, and ran off (as I then proceeded to gun him down from behind and take HIS face).

So actually, as long as you don't get spotted by the original, the AI is pretty durp about it.

I flanked a bunch of the AI in container city with a silenced SMG... the exact SECOND I started firing at one bot, he instantly snapped to my location along with the 4+ other bots that were bunched up about 30 feet away. Totally useless.

Though Silent Footsteps seem to work, sprinted up behind a bot and he didn't turn around.

There are other factors which affect when AI react to you - if there's nobody else nearby and they're guarding, they'll turn as soon as they hear gunfire from a teammate. Also, if the guy you're shooting at is in line of sight of another teammate, they'll usually turn to you as well. Aim for the guy who nobody else is looking at - you're less likely to get bots reacting to you when you pic the right target.

Or start shooting right before your teammates come around the corner - if there's a distraction, they're more likely to aim for the guys they can see on radar. Also, if they start shooting you first, it gives your teammates more time to attack unopposed.

i think people should know this but appearantly not much do ....when ur disguised ur gun disappears(you are in disguise). and once u whip it out ur disguise is gone(revert back to your original charactor). so do not try to aim at enemy while disguise unless you are sure you get a kill .and make sure there is no opposition behind you

You can still aim in disguise, it doesn't break it and helps with the spots.

Like others, however, I have noticed that a disguise works perfectly well against AI but once you try to spot for an extended period of time a bot will notice you (probably down to some sort of threat code as technically you are still aiming at them, and they know it). I think that this is supposed to simulate how in a human game, if the character you're trying to spot has that (seemingly) useless perk that tells them if they're aimed at, your disguise is not broken but rendered pointless because they are being warned that they are being ADS'd at.

As far as a Silencer goes I have noticed that in a group of people shooting at the AI the one with the silencer seems to be a lower priority (emphasis on seems) but if it's one on one as soon as you shoot they turn around. I will probably use one regardless, once I get used to how much damage I'm doing I don't really want to change away from that.

Combat Intuition is a GREAT perk, if you're good at watching for it. It's saved my life many times.

And I've had occasional AI spin and shoot almost as soon as I aim at them - they see that warning pop up, and I'm the only person in line of sight and the right direction, so they know it was me.

If there are a few enemies near you when you do it, they won't know which one is the enemy, so they won't shoot straight away, but if you give them any reason to believe you're not their teammate, they'll tear you apart.

I think disguise works well against both AI's and players for sure, you just kinda gotta know what your doing with it lol

As for the silencers, I think they all have the intuition ability at a cretain level, but i still use silencers anyway. (they work on AI's sometimes)

And for the silent running, I actually can tell a huge differance in the AI with this ability. I can be running right behind an enemy or even multiple enemies and they don't have a clue i'm there. I love the ability personally.
