Silly Companions...

Post » Tue May 10, 2011 9:23 pm

Okay so i was walking to Hoover Dam from the 188 trading post and Cass was with me. There a lot of complictated rock jumping maneuvering etc etc. and as soon as i get there i turn around and shes gone so, naturally, i assume shes dead and then go back to the 188 trading post to get Veronica but as soon as she asks me to let her join me i can only say ive got too many peeps with me which means Cass did not and is alive. This also means that she is probably glitching up under the ground and i was wondering is there any way to fix this.

I've discovered that I often have to fast travel multiple times ... either that, or fast travel as near as possible to where I noticed the silly companion go missing and then wait 24 hours.
Right now, I'm playing with Arcade and he's especially bad about it. I don't know if he goes sight seeing or what but he wanders off like crack-monkey with ADD.

For some reason, I've not been able to get the fast travel, save and reload trick to work.
I'm on PS3 so I don't know if that matters.

I love how they made such a big fuss at how much EASIER and better companions would be in New Vegas and yet they disappear all the time.

Head to Vault 22 and take the elevator down to the bottom floor, the elevator will always bring your companion no matter where they are.

i believe the Steam fix that went out a month ago said in the change log one change will be all companions will fast travel with you no matter what, so maybe after that patch finally hits the ps3/360 it will help you-

i used Raul the Ghoul on all 3 of my playthrough since he is basically a 200 year old Machete!

i found he is always right behind me 99% of the time, and that 1% is when i am asking for it and going too near cliffs or an obviously hard to navigate for AI path..

but if they fall into the ground in phantom video game nether space, that means an older game save reload for me..

I always forget about that one!
What's the deal with that, anyway? It's like that elevator is the Mojave-wide transporter pad.

I sometimes really dislike companions. They ruin assassination moments SO much.
*About to take out Caesar, Pulls Trigger using 50. Cal*
*Cass decides she wants to get a better look at my face and shows her face throw the crosshairs.*
*Cass's head flies off and into Caesar, he sits and laughs at me, mocking my failed assassination attempt. I let him live because of that.*

Boone keeps getting in my way in close quarters.

Then he gets hit with a critical and it all goes to hell.

Hmmm... Well maybe not with his missed assassination attempt but it definitely wouldve helped him sprint away from ceasares legionares.

I was laughing all over the floor. I asked a companion to wait in the open. Then I fast travel to a near by location. when my character turned around i saw my companion running all the way back to the location where I ordered him to stay. funny as hell.

Yes they lay down while keeping their hind legs up so they can pounce. Counts.

Sure that counts... If that's the case then a runner simply getting into position before the 100 meter dash is limbering up.

Someone posted that there's a Companion Check in the game at that point (Vault 22 Elevator to 5th Floor).

I don't have much of a problem with any of them disappearing...must be just lucky I guess.

It's just a matter of not doing any thing fancy. Don't expect them to do "the 10 jumps to get through a secret way across the blocked hills" and not get stuck trying to reach you by going the long way around. :P
