I am aware that you cannot upgrade a silver sword, but it is possible to find one that doesn't svck? I'm a level 40-something on Xbox 360 but the greatswords I find have like 34 damage or something.

I think even if they are levelling items (which I'm not sure about) they will always be considerably lower level attack stats than what you can get already.

I don't think sliverweapons level, i'm not 100% sure about this but i dont think they leveled in Oblivion.

Enchanting =
High Smithing Enchants on Equipment.

High Smithing Enchants + Daedric Greatsword = High Damaging Greatsword.
My own Daedric Greatsword has an enchant on it for Fire damage and the smithing enchants I had on my armour while I upgraded the sword..
made it do a smooth 100+ Damage for each hit, +20 for Fire damage.

Edit: Given your level and build I'm suprised you're still using Silver and not Daedric-Ebony already. & There is no way to make a Silver Greatsword not svck, sorry. :/

I have full enchanted Daedric and Dragonbone, I just like the look of silver weapons.

i would like to know WHY we cant upgrade silver swords? aswell as Falmer/ ancient nord swords /armour.. i would have liked a nice silver jeweled dagger in my belt.. it would have been nice to use all of that gold ore aswell to make armour etc..

you can upgrade falmer weapons and even build them whit Chaurus Chitin, ancient nordic upgrades whit simple iron i think, and yes there are silver greatswords, and yes you can enchant them but not upgrade them or build them, "sad"

Before patch 1.2 Silver weapons where right up there with high end (oversmithed) Dadric for killing undead enemies. Now they just deal base damage.
