Since consoles cannot get mods, why not

have bethesda pick out the worthy moded items, and put them in the game.

some of the armor and weapons made, are much better looking. Also, the added creatures, etc

is this possible? or still the security concerns?

don't think this will ever happen because some of the mods need quite some resources. i do not think that they would run very well on a console. when i look at the graphics of the xbox, i can only assume that the technology inside is not up to date - so resource consuming mods is a no-go. you will need a pc if you want mods, that's the way it is.

Its possible, yes, but Bethesda won't play favorites. IE: Why would someone's mod get picked over my hypothetical mod?

Plus, theres the issue of Bethesda then being required to support the mods, which theyve already made clear, they don't want to do, nor should they be required to.

Considering how much money it costs to get a patch up on the PSN and xboxlive networks I'd assume that placing entire DLC mods on consoles could be pricey. Bethesda certainly wouldn't do it for free, and it wouldn't look good for Bethesda to charge money to download others people's work even if such a thing was allowed in the user agreement. (I have no idea if it would be or not).

Basically the chance of something like this happening is very low in my opinion. Very little for Bethesda to gain for a lot of work, liability, and money.

As I said in the other "Why aren't there mods on consoles" thread, conflict resolution is the problem console users face. Elder Scrolls modding is a little different than modding most other games. Elder Scrolls mods can not only affect the game, they can affect each other. Those of us who use mods on PC rely on third-party utlities to iron out conflicts between mods. I have no idea if these programs can run on an XBox or PS3. If they can't - or until they can - PC-style modded games will simply not be feasible on consoles.

Zero.
This mostly has to do with porting textures over from a computer mod over to xbox. While it makes sense to create a game for the xbox and then port it over to the PC its impossible to do it the other way around without running a HIGH risk of misaligning the texture balance of the console.

With PC's they have enough power and flexibility to not care if the sword equipped on the left has higher resolution texture than the sword equipped on the right but if you are on a console your console will go completely crazy trying to align the two swords together and end up dropping the texture on the higher resolution one.

Also as the above person stated PC users use a wide variety of 3rd party tools (BOSS, Wyrebash, NMM) to help stabilize, test, and run mods. Unless Microsoft and Sony are willing to forge similar 3rd party tools of their own or allow 3rd party users to have access to source code of their console interface (which will NEVER happen) its never a good idea to run mods in the first place.

What IS possible is certain ideas from Modders being seen and game developers create their own version of this (this has happened in the past). But in this case the "idea" is created with consoles in mind with the tools that only the game developers have access to.

This.

It has been said so many times already that those threads are just a waste of forum space.

This is truth, and it is why mods wont be coming to consoles. Overlapping mods need software and ordering and merging to run, and many tweak basic game rules- not just add items.

All i want for console is not the CK, just console commands.
If only spawning items, enemys ect.
Halo 3 and Reach could do it to some extent. Im sure there are other games with that capabilities.
Why not Skyrim?

Bethesda has no control over such features due to Microsoft and Sony not wanting people to have access to console commands to instantly win achievements.

fair enough in that respect, but what if bethesda just simplified it to the max. Like only alowing it to be done in a sort of "private world" where no quests or whatever could be done. Just so the player can mess about and have fun, without affecting anything.

Many mods change textures and meshes of in-game stuff... Consoles can't handle change of hard coded stuff. I have more experience with Morrowind mods, but half of the mods that have been made for Skyrim involve texture changes. Modding for TES games isn't like making some maps for a game.
