Since New Vegas was not hit

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 12:39 pm

Is there any chance of us seeing Pre-War condition cars? New styles of clothes. I don't really care the car won't be operable, I just want to be able to live near it/take a car model and place it in my home. And F3 was great, but the lack of Pre-War clothes in F3 was sad. But I AM hopeful at the rumours of a Tuxedo.

Anyone else hoping to see some 'Pre-War Gems' in the land of New Vegas?

Hell yes! One of the things I loved doing in Fallout 3 was collecting pre-war gear and reading terminals in office buildings to get a feel for what the world was like before the bombs fell.

I hope for the same in Fallout 3... maybe a pre-war neighbourhood that is completely untouched -- there could be people living there or it could be abandoned. I count that as a 'pre-war gem'.

Indeed. Oh how I wish I could play on PC and build a secluded Pre-War settlement. :cryvaultboy:

Assuming they've added more house customizing options, I'd like to see the game do more pre-war charm. IE A Jukebox for the house with the Neon tubes still working, a similiar thing to the Pre-War Dirty Businesswear, but spic and span. Oh the possibilities.

As I've said before, I'd love it if you were on your way to The Tops one night and you see a crowd of people and a parked shining Chryslus Corvega by the entrance. When you get closer you see two big bouncers in suits, fedoras and sunglasses (even though it's midnight) guarding the car for Lil' Tom who's currently gambling and having a swell time inside the casino. Apparently Tom is the spoiled brat son of one of the mob bosses, wasting money on gambling, women, food, clothes and his expensive car. His dad, who actually is a very pleasant old man, dislikes what his son has become and which he could be more like the eldery son who was killed in an alley three years ago by hired men from his rival.

I don't think anything would be pristine, but seeing a small bubble in New Vegas where the pre-war lifestyle is maintained, and outsider influence is limited, like a Vault somewhat, would make for an interesting questline.

I seem to recall that one of the casinos is Ghoul Only, but I may be wrong. Was this ever confirmed? The Lucky 21?

I would say no. The world has just been nuked to hell " The earth was nearly wiped clean of life. A great cleansing an atomic spark struck by human hands, quickly raged out of control. Spears of nuclear fire rianed down from the skies. Continents were swallowed in flames and fell beneath the boiling oceans. Humanity was almost extinguished." After all that even if Vegas was not hit, the people would not just simply say "glad we survived" and continue as normal. Decades of Lawlessness, looting and fires would destroy most if not all pre-war things of value.

I thought you wrote "Since new vegas was not a hit".
Made me a little confused.
I wouldn't mind cars that worked but they are all stationary, you can't drive them and NPC's can't drive them.
That way we know there are functioning vehicles it's just that you never see anyone drive them. (They most likely drive them around when you're not there.
Hell, sometimes when you come back a car or two might be gone which implies that someone is using them.

Cars are very rare and would draw attention. It would svck if we can't ask who owns the cars, who's driving them. It would svck if there is a working vehicle right there and we can't take it. Would just irritate the hell out of me.

I like the idea that all working vehicles would have been destroyed in the decades after the war by looting. Vegas could have been alot like New Reno before Mr.House came along or who ever built that wall. Remember what happens in FO2 when you take the car to New Reno for the first time?

Yeah, that's the thing. People wouldn't like it if there was a car and they couldn't take it. "ARGhhh whi cantz I take teh car?! Fix glitch!!"

"Hey, random passerby, who owns this car?"
"[censored] off, Waster! I got slots to play."

"Hey, is this your car?"
"Gimme fifteen minutes and it will be."

Seriously. Is knowing who's Highwayman that is parked outside the casino that important...?

Yes because anyone who is important enough to own a Highwayman or any other car is going to be powerful. Someone worth knowing. Could be Mr.House's car but still would you not get mad that it's right there and it works but you can't take it?!

Well... maybe it's the first time your character sees a functional car, most people wouldn't know how to drive one or even start one. People would refer to it as "vehicle" or "machine" perhaps, and if you have high intelligence you could say something like "Actually, it's called a "car"... A Chryslus Corvega to be correct..." and people would be like "Yeah, sure, where did you learn that?" "...it says so on the car itself :sadvaultboy:"

I've passed by enough motorcycles in FO3 and have an understanding of the game engine to not really have that temptation. If I wanted to jack a car, I'd play GTA, where that is the chief gameplay mechanic.

No, I wouldn't.
I know that the engine would make the driving crap, I know I would be required to have a whole new skill for it, I know I would have to have the game designed differently if I could take it.
So I would be fine with not being able to use it myself.
Just cause it's there doesn't mean you should be able to use it.

I am sure people would know what it is. They know what everything else is called. There would be books, magazines, computer records, posters and stories past down. I am sure no one has have driven a car in FO2 but it does not stop them from wanting the car and they know what it is. Hell are character starts out as a tribal and he can drive it.

Those motorcycles don't work. I am sure you would be singing another toon if you saw one that works. I am not the first to point this out but if there was a working car in New Vegas and it was right there and we know people are using them. This forum would be swamped with rant threads "I can't drive the car :swear: :swear: :swear: :swear:!!!!!!!!!!" Might get other people thinking their copy was bugged. Also alot of people don't have that understanding that the game engine would not support vehicles. Just look at all the threads that want them.

Hehe, well I wouldnt mind if I could not drive it, maybe be able to sit in the back seat or something xD

I would totally love to see 'Mr Houses Limo/Car' on display in Vegas, as a relic of the 'Utopic' times.

Well I guess they'd just have to deal with it.
Maybe clicking the use button on the car will pop up a long detailed message on why the player can't use the cars. :grad:

This.

The amount of pre-war clothing in FO3 was enough.
