since when are dragon Skeltons made of foam?

Post » Mon May 28, 2012 4:56 pm

Here is my number one complaint of this whole game: Shooting ice spikes or other thing t dragon bones should not make the dragon skeleton go flying as if it was a paper ball your kicking around. I am assuming dragons are what 16-160tons? why are there skeletons treated as if they weigh nothing more then a feather? a human, sure i could see that happening, they go flying, but dragon bones? from an ice spike being shot at them? there is something wrong with that.

Welcome to the wonderful world of ragdoll Havoc Physics. It would be nice if things had more weight and didn't fly all over. Not sure what can be done to fix that.. Maybe a mod or something.

If that breaks your immersion then don't shoot the skeletons...

Hey, it was much more worse in Oblivion. Corpses were flying like baloons.

Well, Dragons do fly. Who's to say their skeletons are not that dissimilar than birds, with hollows in them to allow them to be much lighter.

Roll play it rather than [censored] about ragdoll physics.

They also descended like balloons too... at a much slower rate then you :). Also let's not forget about closing doors with corpses in the way...

Just like many flying creatures the dragon's bones are mostly hollow. The whole structure is a lattice work of corundum & magic that makes them extremely strong while still being very light. There are a few heavy points where high density was required (mostly at joints and certain areas prone to taking extra stress) but those are removed by the PC as dragon bones/dragon scales.

Yes it is unrealistic. The DRAGONS are unrealistic..... THE DRAGONS dont act anything like they do in the real world. I want a refund.

There has to be a simple explanation for that. Next time I see a dragon, I'll ask about it and see if Bethesda got their information from the source, or just made it all up.

I love the ragdoll physics! A bear flies over the ridge just as you fire the killing arrow - it leaps, takes the arrow in the neck, and immediately goes floppy. The momentum takes it thirty feet past you, and into a ravine. It's those sort of moments that make me love it.

This is exactly what I thought. This thread exists to argue about the unrealistic physics behavior of a Dragon skeleton. Maybe we all should take a step back.

Having dragons is unrealistic. If you want reality, go outside.

What are you talking about? Once I killed a dragon on my backyard, absorbed its soul and proceded to shoot an ice arrow from my hands into the skeleton and it behave exactly like that.

So I must say the game is very accurate in that aspect.

Unrealistic in this context is about verisimilitude which is important in fantasy games.

They fly using magic, so that argument is invalid. But on topic, you got a very good point OP.
Lets wait for the CK, and see if we can't add some weight to them.

The game uses a Smithsonian Mod, where upon the death of a dragon, curators quickly move in, recover the skeleton, and recreate it out of foam to substitute for the actual artifacts All while you're moving in for the loot.
