Single player or multiplayer

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 10:06 am

I was going to start on multiplayer where everybody is a player. I'm wondering if I should start on single player to get the hang of the game?

Either would work, I personally plan to learn only the very basics in single-player and then go straight to multi-player and start making friends. Although, I may just play co-op at first, with the enemy team being AI. But I think being around when no one knows a thing about the game will be quite amusing.

it's your choice, i myself am going to do a 8player co-op, or at least start alone and as clanmates and friends get it, call them in too. after we had some fun and got used to how it moves and everything, we're probably gonna go multiplayer :)

To get a feeling for a map and the objectives, I would definately start playing the single-player frst and switch to multi-player, once I know what to do in which situation.

You mean private or public match. You always play the story missions. The only option you have is too choose if you just want to play a private match (you can play alone or invite friends and missing players will be replaced by bots) or you play a public match where everyone can join the game (missing players will be replaced by bots...it's always a 8vs8). Brink is some kind of "Co-Op only" game. There is no separate Single- or Multiplayer. At least that's what was said http://www.ps3attitude.com/new/2010/10/brink-diaries-bridging-gap-singleplayer-coop-multiplayer/.

I'm going to beat one of the two campaigns before I even touch multiplayer. Since I prefer Resistance, I'll probably actually start with Security's campaign, that way I can start to get it in my head that they're the good guys too. After that, I'll probably do most of the resistance campaign, then hit the multiplayer lobbies. So it'll probably be month 2 of having the game before I'm seen in the outside world.

I'll probably be mostly sticking to single player unless I can find a MP group. I certainly plan on giving MP a try though :)

Starting off playing real opponents may turn out to be an advantage in the long run, now that I think about it. It will be much easier to learn PvP tactics starting from scratch than if you have to break habits that you learned when playing AI. Seeing as this games multiplayer is the normal campaign, I cant really see any downsides.

From my experience the AI does actually behave like human players do. Other players experienced the same, as you can tell from various podcasts, in which they say people confused the two 4v4(+8 AI) matches for one 8v8 at the expos.

True, but the one thing that I doubt the AI will do is evolve. At most, I would expect the AI to maybe "learn" within the span of one game. Its easy to not notice the AI when all of the people playing don't really know what they're doing.

My plan will be something like this :

- buy the game
- install the game
- cross my fingers to play with a decent framerate
- click multiplayer
- own the scene.

It's all the same story, so I'll kick off with full MP.

I will play both. Plan to start the single-player 1st just to get use to the controls, then just jump into the multiplayer.

I assume there will be only noobs, including you. Or is Brink the first game in history that has professional players right on release ?

I am going to do the single player first and get at least one cool thing for my character. Then when I am done making my friends buy the game too I will play multiplayer with my friends dressed in the same color as me.

:intergalactic: you so cool man.

only, i was talking about the actual "testers" not those lucky enough to have had a hands-on.
you know? the guys who try to find bugs? those are testers, i have no clue what your definition of a tester is, but it doesn't seem to be in league with those of others.
