Skill Reduction

Okay I just leveled up and now the skill screen says that my archery skill is 25 when it was 83 can someone tell me what just happened?

Did you go to prison and spend a night in a cell? That reduces your skill points.

I've heard this is a common glitch and a way to fix it is just level up the skill, once it levels up it should fix it. Though this hasn't happened to me personally so I'm not sure how reliable it is.
