Skooma, now it's just a useful potion?

Post » Fri Jun 15, 2012 6:01 pm

Isn't skooma supposed to be a liquid version of the drug moonsugar that is both addictive and bad for you?

In Oblivion it, at least, had some negative effects. In Skyrim, skooma has no negative effects and you can't get addicted to it. I understand that the skooma in Skyrim is supposedly 'watered down' but I find it fairly ridiculous that skooma is basically just a stamina potion.

Does anyone else feel that skooma in Skyrim should have had some more thought put into it?

The alkoholic beverages makes your stamina regeneration slower, skooma could have had something like that, at least.

It's pretty lame it doesn't have any side effects. Now it seems like the only reason to avoid it (or use it) is for RP purposes.

Yes I was disappointed when found this out, as I was hoping for an increase in speed and some negative effects.

I look at it as some type of amphetamine that is water down so much that it just gives you a boost of stamina. It actually reminds me a lot of a 5 Hour Energy

Then why can NPCs become addicted to it? I know there are at least two named NPCs with a serious skooma problem (one can be cured, the other goes crazy from the abstinence).

Maybe skooma has been retconned to be steroids made of sugar. Or everyone in TES is, in fact, running on the mind of a single digit aged child.

`actually... skooma has been steadily improving over the last era... the goal has always been a profit without a price (no harmful side-effects)

until recently some of the elements of moon sugar reacted in such a way during the production of skooma that it created those side effects you miss... its a testament to the ingenuity of kajhiit that skooma is what it is today...

No wonder Khajiit is so happy when drinking it and so sad when smoking it. Drinking it just makes Khajiit... Khajiit think Khajiit's blood pressure went up thanks too high now.

It's even pushing the definition of useful. Anyone ever used one for the stamina boost in combat, or do we all save them for the 'special' chest at home?
