Skyre + ASIS... too hard?

Hey,

Just a friendly discussion on whether you have found using Skyre and ASIS together too hard?

I'm not implying they should be changed, not at all, I am just interested if you're finding it difficult. I've tried several builds and even on Adept I just cannot develop a build that can make it somewhat manageable. If I make a warrior type, then magick will destroy me. If I make an Archer I don't do enough damage and close range he's useless. Also SkyRe makes it difficult to obtain damage reduction since it requires about 22 perks to max Smithing (not exaggerating) whereas I think Vanilla only needed about 6 I think.

I've even tried min-maxing to make every single perk point count, and used races and magick schools I didn't even want to use (Breton) for magick resistance and Alteration for the magick resistance perks, just to give myself a reasonable chance of surviving.

You think these two mods are best to be used together or seperately?

A friend of mine plays with a similar SkyRe+ASIS setup, and told me yesterday that he couldn't fight more than two enemies at once, even if he initiated the fight with a sneak attack. BYOG, a component of ACE, allows you to adjust the damage from particular sources globally, so if you feel one particular source of damage is too much, you can tweak it down a bit.

It's tough but not nearly impossible for me. I always play using UFO with 2 followers as I feel the difficulty is more balanced towards that.

This is probably where I am going wrong. I am trying to do it solo, but doesn't seem feasible without spoiling your fun.

I have got a couple of characters to level 24 or 31 but as the enemies don't let up in difficulty it feels like you're not getting stronger. Furthermore, it requires to many perks to level something up in SkyRe and it takes so long to level that you can't invest enough in skill trees to cover some of your weaknesses.

Might try the follower Marcuio in Riften, apparently he is supposed to be the best mage in the game.

Right now I'm playing as a priest-type caster focusing mainly on healing my followers. I also have my followers set to non-essential so they can die, along with a resurrect spell from Deadly Dragons Spells. I think I could pull through with just 1 follower using this build though.

UFO with 2 followers is the only way I'm finishing dungeons now. Those bandit chiefs are brutal as a level17.

Makes me greatful for my paralysis poisons and enchants....

I find SkyRe is difficult enough with a follower in tow; I skipped out on ASIS because it looked like it would make the game too hard to be fun for me.

BTW, if the SkyRe progression is too slow for you, I recommend Ish's Souls to Perks. It helps take the sting out of the slowed progression, and out of "wasteful" unwanted dragon encounters.

Do you feel like using that mod is cheating? If not, why?
