Skyrim and Necromancy...

Post » Fri Jun 29, 2012 1:45 pm

So am I missing something as far as necromancy? What is it in the Elder Scrolls game's? Isn't it when you raise a dead body as a minion? I know i've done that in the mages guild before and i've seen mages from the guild do that before... so that can't be it? So what qualifies as necromancy?

rasing dead bodies in any manner is necromancy.

The college does not consider Nercomancy bad or evil like the Mages' Guild did.

neither does any laws, in fact, the only reason the mages' guild had a problem with it was because traven was an idiot

Well, certainly it's an evil practice, so I can't see how anybody could fault Traven for banning the practice.

Also, isn't the College part of the Guild? I haven't played that faction really at all yet.

I found the story of the Mages Guild questline kind of [censored]. Mannimarco already ascended into godhood after Daggerfal, and then a couple of years later, you get to fight him again. Or am I being [censored] by thinking that the Mannimarco's are the same?

Have somebody dig up your Grandma's body and animate it, then tell me it isn't an evil practice. :stare:

I guess his ascension wasn't quite so permanent as he might have hoped. Didn't he use some sort of artifact that he might not have fully understood? I dunno, I never played TES until Oblivion.

The College of Winterhold has never been a part of the Mages Guild. The Mages Guild has split up since Oblivion to form both the Synod and the college of whispers.

The Mages Guild banned necromancy but the College of Winterhold don't mind it.

As long as it isn't your own grandmother, I don't have a problem with it...

I looked it up on the UESP, and it's indeed a clone. Some kind of back-up soul he had put in a soulgem inespicably escaped and went ape[censored].

still. traven banned half of his guild for necromancy (not really half but he did piss off some powerful people).its because of him that mannimarco wanted to take down the mages' guild. without him then a lot of mages would not have died

nope, the guild fell apart after oblivion

You're right, but I still think that Mannimarco(being the evil bastard he is) would've tried to wipe out the Mages Guild of his former nemesis Galerion.

maybe. but without traven he would not have had such a following and other necromancers would have no need to join him

That's a naive oversimplification.
