Skyrim Audio Popping and crashing

Post » Sun May 20, 2012 7:08 pm

I have a decent computer.. Plenty of HD space, 6 gig ddr3 tripple channel ram, geforce gtx 460, corei7 quad core 920. It should handle it just fine, has has been for over 40 hours so far. I have been doing the Dark Brotherhood quests and now I am receiving audio popping at times and crashes on a constant basis. Sometimes the frame rate slows down enough to where I notice it and it is getting on my nerves. It was fine for the first 40 hours and now it's buggin out on me. My temperatures are fine! 43 C on all cores and my VGA as well. It's getting old fast. Anyone else have these issues? I even tried turning the audio settings to DVD quality instead of studio and it still crashed. Right to hte desktop. First time it froze and I had to hard reset.

Same thing here......

i7 950 @ 4.1ghz
6970 xfire
12gb triple channel ram

I’ve had continuous crashes from the start of the game, about 45 hours in now and just carnt play it any more just seems to get worse, the new patch steam downloaded 1.1 i guess just made things "worser"....

I get random crashes 5-6 an hour + inside of buildings go invisible + characters speech goes silent + music randomly stops + items, backgrounds characters + buildings go purple.

I have tried all of the following;

Selected 24 bit, 44100Hz (Studio Quality).

Installed 11.11a drivers.

Verified integrity of game cache.

Used single 6970 card.

Don’t get me wrong the game has tons of potential, would just be nice tp play it for longer than 10-15 minutes without it crashing. The amount of times i have had to re-do missions is getting ridiculous.

Just need to remember to spam that F5 key!!!!

I downloaded the Skyrim4G executable mod off the nexus and it's not giving me problems anymore. I wonder what was going on?

Have you tried reducing your OC'd processor? SKyrim is extremely sensitive to overclocking. I had to reduce mine by a couple hundred mhz which is a big deal on my slower athlon II X3.
Prime95 was 100% on my overclock, but Skyrim could break it :)..it is a very hardware/cpu intensive game.

Some very basic fixes for audio popping are in the stickies. Go to your audio properties and reduce from 24bit 96000 hz to 48000 hz instead.
Also increasing the address ram of your TES.exe stops crashes to desktop.
